Tragedy strikes the Warriors! Earlier this week, Steve Kerr publicly admitted that Stephen Curry is tired and needs some rest to get rejuvenated: “You can see it. He doesn’t have his energy right now.” The following night, the ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ sat out against the Bucks, managing his lingering back injury. So, when Steph returned to the lineup for tonight’s Raptors clash, everyone expected him to play with high energy. However, the anticipation quickly turned into fear for Dub Nation as the four-time champ suffered a brutal injury due to an unfortunate incident. The Warriors’ announcers immediately reacted with concern, fearing the worst as Curry remained on the floor in visible distress.
It happened in the closing minutes of the third quarter. With the ball in his hand, Steph dribbled through the defense and drove to the basket. As two Raptors players jumped to contest his shot, he passed the ball to Jonathan Kuminga in the corner. Unfortunately, Curry lost his balance after taking the bump from the defenders and fell awkwardly on his backside. Immediately, he clutched his tailbone area and began writhing in pain—something was wrong!
On-air announcers quickly noticed his agony. “Steph is hurt. Steph is grabbing his back, and he is laying in the lane. He is injured right now. You gotta foul. You gotta stop the game.” Sure enough, the Warriors committed the foul, and the game was paused to assess Steph’s injury. T:

“Curry is in major distress. Might be tailbone. He fell pretty hard. Went down and he knew it right away. The health of Steph Curry is something they’re checking on right away,” the announcers further elaborated.
In a scary sight, Steph was down on the floor for several minutes and eventually ended up leaving the game. The latest report by Anthony Slater revealed that he was done for the night–out with Pelvic Contusion. Surprisingly, the massive setback did not deter the Bay Area team’s focus!

Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler rescue the Warriors amid major Stephen Curry setback
When Steph left the game due to the scary injury, his team was trailing by five points. He finished with 17 points and two rebounds. Following his departure, it looked like the Warriors’ dominant run would come to an end. However, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler took charge and muscled a comeback without their best player.

In a rare scoring outburst, Green went off for 21 points while dishing out five assists. Of course, he was also a menace on defense, getting four steals. Meanwhile, Butler displayed his versatility and dropped a 16-point triple-double. Even the young supporting cast of Kuminga, Podziemski, and Quinten Post stepped up their game, combining for 49 points.

Sure enough, the Warriors ended up winning the game by three points. Some relief in an otherwise tragic night. Although they survived tonight, all focus will be on the next update about Curry’s health. Hopefully, the injury is not serious and he will be able to return soon because Steph’s absence for a significant time could hurt the Warriors’ chances of avoiding the Play-In tournament as the Clippers and Timberwolves continue to lurk close behind.
