The Warriors seem to have got a much-needed break. It’s quite evident as we watched the rebooted GSW add yet another feather to their hat. Tonight, it wasn’t the regular blowout win that the Jimmy Butler era effortlessly produces. Instead, it was a tight game, but fans did have a treat as they witnessed vintage Stephen Curry. Amid this glittery Warriors experience, there was a lot of chance of getting carried away. That’s exactly what happened with the Warriors announcers, as they made a blunder on air involving Paolo Banchero.

Before we bat our eyes on the Warriors’ glory, let’s address the major fumble. Firstly, it’s important to understand that mistakes do happen. Especially in a fast-paced game like basketball, the announcers have to be on their toes when they call the game. So, let’s go easy on the criticisms.

Paolo Banchero, the franchise leader, had a dominating night, dropping 41 points and 6 rebounds, except it was overshadowed by Steph’s historic night. Up until the Dubs’ third-quarter flurry, it looked like the Magic‘s night as Banchero carried the team with a steady double-digit lead.

So, speaking highly of him, the announcer attempted to place the third-year forward among the greats, saying“Only players in NBA history with 3000 points, 1000 rebounds, 200 threes in the first two years. One is LeBron, and the other is Luka. The third is Paolo Banchero.” Unfortunately, it had a slight factual inaccuracy. LeBron James had made only 171 threes at the end of his sophomore year.

Moreover, this can be interpreted in a positive light as well. The announcer attempted to place the Magic’s forward among the greats, instead, the 22-year-old proved that he was a step ahead with 3241 points, 1051 rebounds, and 204 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic outscored the rest with  3285 pts, 1136 rbs, and  339 3pm. While the announcer’s blunder turned into a blessing in disguise, Stephen Curry dimmed his moment of glory.

Unlike the last few games, the Dubs looked a little erratic, struggling to find buckets. Especially, Jimmy Butler, who made the most impact on the offensive end, facilitating plays while averaging steadily around 20 points, struggled. Tonight, he had a poor night, dropping only 5 points with a 1-7 FG and also conceded two rare turnovers.

This drastically impacted the side, as Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody, who fed off Butler’s IQ, couldn’t make any dent on the scoreboard, either. It eventually helped the Magic to build their offense. At one point, the Florida side managed to take a 17-point lead.

‘Enough is enough’ thought the Baby-faced Assassin, as he produced an offensive domination bucket by bucket. Moreover, the situation demanded a historic effort to help the team come out of the deficit. After scoring 5 points in the first quarter, Steph understood the importance of his presence. He scored 16 points in the second quarter, which included a buzzer-beater three-pointer from the 3/4th of the court. The Magic should have taken the hint.

In the next quarter, Chef dropped 22 points out of the Dubs’ 40-point flurry, entering the last quarter with a 5-point lead. By then, the rest of the team was in rhythm and secured a comfortable 121-115 win, riding on Steph’s season-high 56 points.

Moreover, the performance is historic because this is the superstar’s highest score against the Magic. The last time Steph scored a 50-pointer against the Magic was in 2016, dropping 51 points with 8 assists. Tonight, he recorded the humongous score on a clean shooting night with a 63.1% FG, sinking 12 three-pointers.

So, what do we make out of it? Are the Warriors back? Steph on fire! Let us know in the comments below.
