Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, only if one remembers to turn on the light. When Vlatko Cancar was down with an ACL injury in August 2024, life seemed to have stopped as he was cast out for the season. This happened after he had spent his initial years post being drafted, not even demanding an immediate roster spot. But with his European style of play and high basketball IQ, the Slovenian NBA star has had a fascinating journey to has highlighted modern basketball.
From living out of a suitcase when he arrived in town to an NBA star, Vlatko has proudly claimed that he would stay with the Nuggets forever. “I want to be in Denver because, first of all, I love it here. This is my first team, and I just want to be with the one team that drafted me, that believed in me,” said Cancar. “So I just want to give back to them with being positive, being a true professional, and when the opportunity comes, just play as best as I can.” The Denver Nuggets had spotted potential in the young Slovenian player back in 2019. So, how much money is he making there?

What is Vlatko Cancar’s net worth? His contract details and Endorsements
Vlatko Cancar, the Slovenian forward’s basketball journey, is a quiet testament to grit and growth. Hailing from Slovenia, he cut his teeth in Europe with Union Olimpija before sharpening his game at Serbia’s Mega Basket—a proven pipeline for NBA talent. But it never came easily. Here, he is currently on a one-year, fully guaranteed deal with the Denver Nuggets for the 2024–25 NBA season.
Even this came with a bump. After Denver declined his team option in June 2024, making him an unrestricted free agent, Cancar re-signed with the team in July on a veteran minimum contract worth $2,425,403, carrying a cap hit of $2,087,519. It’s a straightforward, short-term deal—likely a chance for Cancar to re-establish his role in the rotation after recovering from injury, while giving Denver a reliable depth piece at a budget-friendly price.
Unhappy? No, the Slovenian knows how to cherish whatever comes his way. “So all that you have a dream Chase it, work hard for it. Dreams are to be realized.” Vlatko wrote in his Instagram post after his first NBA draft. His path wasn’t flashy, but it was real—built on patience, persistence, and a love for the game that carried him from Ljubljana to the NBA hardwood.
What are Vlatko Cancar’s endorsements, and what makes him valuable to the Nuggets?
As of now, Vlatko Cancar keeps a low commercial profile, with no publicly known endorsement deals or major sponsorships attached to his name. “We call him the half-court Vlatko,” Coach Michael Malone said while talking about his half-court shooting skills. “The guy is uncanny with his ability to make those shots. And for him to do it in a game setting like tonight, I really feel like it changed the game.”

But what does Cancar think about himself? “People ask me, ‘Oh, you always stay ready for a game.’ Yes, because I don’t cheat the game,” Cancar told DNVR. He believes in playing like a European and staying true to his roots while having the ‘champion mindset’: “Every game matters. For Europeans, every game matters, and I would like to put that habit here. A game like Christmas Day against New Orleans, that’s a must-win. We can’t have any excuses. We can’t be tired. Championship teams don’t look for excuses.” Vlatko stated once.
He looks forward to free agency in 2025 with his current contract expiring; the question remains if the Denver Nuggets would retain their half-court sharp shooter. If they do, what would his new contract look like?
