Looks like the Timberwolves finally got their groove back. They headed into tonight’s Suns clash hoping to shake off Monday’s blowout loss against the Pacers. Coming out with a mission, the Minnesota team was dominant from the get-go and maintained a comfortable lead for the majority of the game. Then came the moment—Anthony Edwards’ nasty taunt targeting Suns owner Mat Ishbia.
With less than a minute remaining until the final buzzer and the Wolves up by double-digits, the game was as good as over. But Edwards was not done. He caught a pass in the corner and hit a dagger three to seal the win for his team. What happened next caught everyone’s attention. As soon as his shot went in, Ant-Man struck a mean pose and turned toward Mat Ishbia, who was sitting courtside right behind the Wolves star.
Putting the billionaire owner in an uncomfortable spot, Edwards stared him down for several seconds before shifting his focus back to the game. Looks like every time the ANT faces the Suns, he puts in some extra oomph into his celebrations. Last year, during their first-round playoff series, the young forward went viral for trash-talking Kevin Durant after hitting a tough shot over him. Even KD couldn’t help but smile at Edwards’ confidence.

In the third game of the same series, Edwards gave the fans another viral moment when he taunted the Phoenix crowd with the iconic DX chop after dishing out an assist to Rudy Gobert. Tonight’s stare down at Ishbia only adds to the list of Ant’s iconic moments against the Phoenix franchise. And he has all the right to do so, considering how dominant the Wolves have been against the Suns in recent years.
Anthony Edwards continues Suns beatdown despite mid-game injury scare
Well, we might never have gotten the epic Ant-Man stare-down had he not returned from the injury scare earlier in the game. During the first quarter, Edwards took a nasty elbow to the face from KD while intercepting a pass from Tyus Jones. The sight was scary as he fell to the floor and immediately grabbed his nose. He headed to the locker room and did not return for the remainder of the first half.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Anthony Edwards' stare-down of Mat Ishbia cross the line, or was it just good fun?
Have an interesting take?
Fortunately, the injury wasn’t serious, and he checked back in seconds into the second half. He was dominant, finishing with 20 points and five assists. More importantly, the Wolves beat the Suns, sweeping the four-game season series. Seems like the usual outcome these days. Including tonight’s win, the Minnesota team has beaten Kevin Durant and Co. in their last eight meetings. Of course, they also swept them in last year’s first-round series.
Moreover, tonight’s dominant performance could be a major confidence booster for Anthony Edwards and Co. as they fight to get out of the play-in bracket and book a permanent spot in the playoffs. Do you think they can achieve that goal?
