Last season, when Charles Barkley heard those magic words from Anthony Edwards, everyone got to know about the unhinged nature of the Timberwolves guard. His “Bring ya a**” message to the NBA legend even turned into a Minnesota tourism tagline. But following Joel Embiid‘s troubles with Marcus Hayes, watchful eyes have zoomed in over the NBA media stratosphere. From the locker room interview to the press conference to the courtside ones, public interest has increased over the past few weeks. And that’s where the media training comes in, something Adam Silver’s league is expected to provide along with players’ PR teams. But for Anthony Edwards, that seems a foreign concept.

After a tough night against the Kings, an exhausted Ant took the microphone to reflect on what the 130-126 victory meant to him. However, he forgot to filter his language during the interview. While answering the reporter’s question, Ant said the win was “Super f–king important, man.” The 23-year-old didn’t realize that profanity is prohibited when speaking to the media.

Edwards wasn’t the only one to let loose during postgame interviews. LaMelo Ball had a similar incident recently. The point guard grabbed the spotlight during the Hornets’ season opener for not choosing his words wisely.

The team’s first win got him so excited that he mentioned the F-word during a courtside interview. After the Hornets’ victory over the Rockets, the interviewer asked Ball about his connection with former NBA player-turned-enhancement coach Kemba Walker. Ball reflected on their brotherly bond by saying, “Like I said, he gang. I’m gang. We chillin’ all the time. I f–k with him, that’s family.” This video quickly went viral, much like Edwards’ clip. But Ant-Man could be in more trouble than what meets the eye.

Anthony Edwards could find himself facing a hefty fine

Anthony Edwards’ adrenaline was clearly running high during the game, evident not only in his massive dunks but also in his gestures toward the Golden 1 Center crowd. He flashed his middle finger and didn’t hold back when it came to cursing in front of the media again.

In his post-game locker room interview, Edwards bluntly said, “My coach told me I’ve been playing ‘soft’ for 11/12 games,” and added “So I told him yesterday, I was going to dunk on one of their a** so when I did it I looked right at him.” That wasn’t all. After watching a clip of his dunk, Edwards reacted with, “Hmm, motherf**ker. Yeah, that felt good.”

The question now is whether Adam Silver will tolerate such behavior. If the league takes action, Edwards could face fines of $25k for each violation, as per the regulations. Given that he breached it four times, the total could quickly add up leading to hefty fine. But that probably won’t hurt his pockets thanks to Ant’s $204 million contract.
