Last Season’s playoffs were one of the most entertaining playoffs in recent memory. The Miami Heat’s incredible run to the finals, the Nuggets’ emergence as a powerhouse, and probably the ‘last dance’ between Steph and LeBron, all contributed towards an enthralling postseason. Yet, amidst these narratives, Dillon Brooks’ story arc as a “Villain” and his feud with LeBron took center stage over other compelling storylines.

His constant disrespect for LeBron, coupled with his tenacious personality, made him a widely hated figure. However, Brooks ditched his “Villain” persona to follow through on a wholesome promise he made to some young Houston fans.

Dillion Brooks catered and helped serve Thanksgiving meals to approximately 150 boys and girls members and their families. During these festive celebrations, Brooks received a hand-drawn sign that welcomed him to Houston. He promised the kids that he would “put it in his locker”, and he followed through with that promise.

Recently, Jackson Gatlin, host of the Locked on Rockets, posted a picture of the sign given to Brooks by kids displayed in his locker. He wrote on X, “True to his word, Dillon Brooks has the hand-drawn signs he received from the Boys & Girls Club displayed in his Rockets locker.”

Brooks gained notoriety for “poking the bear” and his constant disrespect of King James. After dismal postseason performances, his contract wasn’t renewed with the Memphis Grizzlies. Brooks faced immense ridicule and mockery following his release from the Grizzlies.

However, Brooks signed a 4-year contract worth $86 million with the Houston Rockets this offseason. In Houston, Brooks has become a key player of a Rockets team who have significantly overachieved this season. He has played a pivotal role in the Houston Rockets‘ recent upsurge in performances under Ime Udoka.
