With Klay Thompson inking a deal with the Mavs and ending his 13-year run with the Warriors, Dub Nation is still coping with his heartbreaking departure. Why wouldn’t they? After all, he helped them win four championships and turned them into a dominant dynasty, giving the fans memories to cherish for a lifetime. But it looks like even Klay is having a tough time processing the move as he sent out an emotional farewell message to the Bay Area. And his former teammate, Kevin Durant, who himself did not leave the Warriors on great terms, tried to uplift Klay with some motivational words.
Leaving the fans emotional, Klay compiled his entire journey with the Warriors in an Instagram post, sharing various nostalgic images along with a heartfelt message, “Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about yall. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1″.
“I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. My family and I would like to thank all of the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the @warriors organization world-class. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out.”

Seeing Klay pour his heart out on the internet, KD responded to the Splash Brother and even gave him a new prestigious title, “A Bay Area God. One chapter closes, another one opens. Keep doing you champ.” Obviously, having been in Klay’s position five years ago, Durant knows exactly how it feels to leave an organization where you won multiple championships. But unlike Klay, KD’s farewell in Golden State brought a lot of heat his way.

Although Durant helped the Warriors come out of that heart breaking finals loss in 2016 and led them to back-to-back titles the following two years, his final year in Golden State was slightly controversial, and it even turned the Dub Nation against him.

Following two amazing runs to the Championship, the Kevin Durant-led Warriors hit a major rough patch during the 2018-19 season. Reports about trouble in the locker room and difference in opinion between superstars started surfacing. But everything went haywire during a regular season game that November against the Clippers.
With the game tied and less than a minute remaining on the clock, KD pulled up for a three to take the lead but bricked the shot. Then, the Warriors got another opportunity to win the game in the last possession, but Draymond stole KD’s rebound and took the ball full court on his own. Unable to get the shot off, Draymond’s decision sent the game to overtime.
And as expected, Durant wasn’t happy with Draymond not passing him the ball, which led to a huge argument between the two superstars on the bench. Yelling profanities at each other in front of the world, it was evident that their chemistry had taken a hit.
Surely, as soon as the season ended, KD left the Bay Area to join the Brooklyn Nets even though the Warriors could have made another run for the title with him. And this did not sit well with the community as they trolled and slammed KD on social media. But he has gotten over all the criticism with time and is now on a new journey in Phoenix.

With that in mind, he consoled Klay, telling him that even though he left a huge legacy in Golden State, he has a lot more left to give to the game. And he can do that with the Mavs starting next season.
