From death threats to fatherhood—how do you think Jalen Brunson is handling these emotional extremes?

One of the most humble basketball players, Jalen Brunson, had yet another fantastic year in New York. Reuniting with his Villanova teammates, Brunson and the Knicks went as far as the second round. The series stretched to seven games and Brunson was in the midst of making the case for the best playoff performer. Now, just a few months after the postseason, Brunson welcomed a new member to his family.

Jalen Brunson is now a father, as he confirmed the news on Instagram. The new member of the Brunson family, Jordyn James Brunson is Jalen’s firstborn with his wife and high school sweetheart, Ali Marks. Born on July 31st this year, Brunson revealed the news just recently. On the other hand, fans and his supporters in the comments were confused to identify whether Jalen is now a boy dad or not. Well, as the first name (Jordyn) suggests, there are more chances of Brunson being a girl dad.

The 27-year-old received some serious threats concerning his family right after the postseason. Brunson was a victim of some bizarre incident following the condensed series, as the Knick later revealed. Those were definitely some hard times despite Brunson’s struggles to keep New York atop the Eastern Conference and in the postseason. Fans as well as his supporters only wish the best for him moving forward as New York’s star enters fatherhood.

Jalen Brunson is also one of the most humble players in the NBA. Even after an MVP-caliber performance in the last two postseasons, Brunson did not go after the potential lucrative offer. The point guard would’ve been eligible for a five-year $269 million extension, had he waited till the next offseason. Instead, Brunson signed a veteran extension this year worth $156 million. This $113 million sacrifice made some room for the Knicks to bring another former member of Villanova, Mikal Bridges.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see Brunson’s next contract which surely will compensate for the $113 million that he missed out on. As Jalen looks forward to spending time with his firstborn, he’ll have all the advice on becoming a father from his friend and teammate.
