Since the shocking Luka Doncic trade, Nico Harrison has turned into the biggest villain in Dallas. “Fire Nico” chants echo the city and fuming fans are constantly protesting against him during games and outside the American Airlines Center. While people’s frustration is justified as they are devastated after losing a generational superstar like Luka, they might have gone a bit too far with the hate against Nico, even targeting his family!
Turns out, the aftermath of the trade has made life extremely difficult for Nico’s daughter. According to former Mavs star turned analyst Chandler Parsons, “He had to have known there’s gonna be backlash. You don’t just trade a Luka out of nowhere, but did he imagine that he’d need to beef up his security and his daughter is gonna get bullied apparently at school? Theres all these different stories coming out like that.”
Yes, Nico is a father to two daughters, Noelle and Nia. And the one in High School is reportedly getting bullied by her peers for her father’s actions. “That’s a lot and that’s not fair, but this is a crazy move. It shocked the world and people are clearly upset about it.”

Parsons added. But is bullying a child just because you are angry at a sports decision the right thing to do? Of course not! That’s why former Lakers star Lou Williams urged the Dallas fans to stop the hate against Nico’s daughter on The Run It Back podcast, “Leave that young lady alone. She had nothing to do with that.”
Adding to the concerns, Nico and his family have also been receiving constant death threats, which is why the GM has beefed up security in his home. According to veteran insider Ramona Shelburne, “It’s very uncomfortable for him right now and his family. You know I don’t condone anybody making threats against people’s families no matter how unpopular a decision is, that’s not right.” While there was bound to be backlash against a move of this magnitude, no one expected things to go this far. Amid the security concerns, new reports have emerged about why Nico traded Luka.

Luka Doncic’s Professionalism in question as the Mavs were reportedly concerned about his “Beer and Hookah” Habit
If Nico was aware of the potential consequences, why would he decide to trade Luka out of the blue? Well, he has stated that it was because Anthony Davis gives the Mavs a better chance at winning the Championship and is also a better culture fit than Luka. However, most people are not buying it. Speculations are that the team management was concerned about Doncic’s conditioning and his ability to stay healthy for an entire season.

The latest report by The Athletic fuels those speculations. As per veteran reporter Sam Amick, “Make no mistake, the people who witnessed Doncic’s last days in Dallas do not paint a flattering portrait of the 25-year-old’s professionalism. They call him lazy. They talk about the weight issues that were such a frequent frustration within their walls.”

Moreover, there were rising concerns about his habit of drinking beer and smoking hookah. Yes, the Slovenian Sensation was spotted indulging in those activity multiple times during the offseason, which is why the Mavs did not see a bright future with him. “They predict his basketball demise, highlighting a health history that, as some see it, will likely lead to catastrophe in the next five years or so.” Amick added. Whatever the reason, the reality is that Luka is gone and Nico and his family are unfortunately dealing with the brunt of all the criticism and hate because of one controversial decision. What are your thoughts?
