Kevin Durant‘s big season with the Suns didn’t go as planned. Despite the Big 3 of KD, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal joining forces in Phoenix, a ring remained out of reach. Switching gears to New York, Aaron Rodgers also had a challenging season. His highly anticipated debut for the Jets went wrong. The former Super Bowl winner tore his Achilles and missed the season.

Apart from the feeling of dread, KD found common ground to sympathize with Rodgers. He had a similar injury that threatened his career. So now, seeing the Jets QB fit, KD turned cheerleader for Rodgers during the latest episode of the Up & Adams Show.

In the episode, KD showed his cheerful side as he announced his FanDuel joining. So everything about football was up on the table for discussion. As a result, Durant admitted Aaron Rodgers is his favorite QB of all time. Wishing the Jets the best, KD said, “I want them to win games. They’re on the other side too, so, like, we’ll see them in the Super Bowl. But I want Aaron Rodgers to win the Super Bowl again.”

When asked why he wants that despite being a Commanders fan, the Slim Reaper said, “And I wanna bounce back because he went through a lot. Went through he tore his Achilles from 1, but he gave Green Bay his heart, his soul, blood, sweat, and tears, and he wrapped that chapter up and went on to the next. And now he in New York with the Jets… We got great pieces around him. So I think it’s just his chance right now.”

Talking about the possibility of Rodgers’ success following a career-threatening injury, Kay Adam compared KD to the NFL star. Durant had an Achilles tear in 2019 that almost ended his career but came back to post even better numbers. KD believes Rodgers can replicate that. “I think he can be. I mean, he’s mentally tough. He’s obviously talented and skilled on another level, and he’s experienced…The IQ is probably top in the league, one of the tops in the league in history of the game, to be honest,” Durant further added. “So I think he put all of that in one pot and put it together, it’ll come it’ll cost for a good bounce back.” Does that mean he’ll be in the MVP contention? Kevin Durant wasn’t that much hopeful as he named his picks for the end-of-season award.

Kevin Durant is no stranger to the term MVP. Having won two Finals MVP and an NBA MVP, KD certainly knows a thing or two about it. Now he applied this knowledge to predict the NFL MVP as well. Despite rooting for the Jets and A-Rod, KD picked the likes of Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and finally a surprising one, Dak Prescott.

Given Durant’s loyalty to his hometown-based franchise, the Commanders, and their rivalry with the Cowboys, this was a shock pick. But KD knows the game, he respects it too. “For the last, like, 4 years, I think. Right? 3 or 4 years, they moved. Straight 12 plus win season. And they’ve been balling, and they and he put up some sick numbers last year. Like 40 touchdowns…I hate to give the Cowboys credit, but I just can’t disrespect the game of football,” KD explained. Now that he’s on board with a sportsbook company, we can expect more such takes and picks from Kevin Durant while he waits for his turn to light up the NBA when it starts.
