The hot French prospect Victor Wembanyama has had a warm welcome in the NBA ever since he set his foot on American soil. The 19-year-old star created a huge reputation even before making his debut in the league. Moreover, almost everyone in the NBA had a positive opinion about the rising star, despite a mixed response to his Summer League outing. However, a former Boston Celtics star, who is taller than the French baller, has an uncanny reason to be awkward around Wemby.

The Gregg Popovich-led San Antonio Spurs locked in on Wembanyama and seemed to have placed their franchise’s future on his shoulders. Notably, pictures and video clips of Wemby training and meeting former Spurs legends like Tony Parker surfaced in the online world. While he has had a busy offseason, the story of another seven-footer hasn’t been the same. To be more precise, the 7’6 former Celtics star is currently playing in the Chinese after only playing three seasons in the NBA.

Tacko Fall describes meeting Victor Wembanyama

Former Celtics star Tacko Fall sat down with Athletic’s senior NBA reporter, Shams Charania, for an interview ahead of his next season at the Chinese league, CBA. He represented the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the last season and displayed a decent performance averaging 13.8 points. Moreover, he represented the Milwaukee Bucks in the Summer League at Las Vegas.

During the interview, the 27-year-old star discussed a wide array of topics about his career. Interestingly, he provided an uncanny response when Charania asked whether he had ever been in the same room as Victor Wembanyama. He confirmed that he hasn’t interacted with Star yet. Nevertheless, the reporter continued with his question, asking him what it would be like if they were in the same room. Fall said, “Very Awkward, it will be weird for me to look someone in the eye.” 

Furthermore, he spoke about how Wemby suffered harsh criticism after his first outing in the Summer League. He further vouched that the French baller will have bright future.
