It is Valentine’s Day, and several NBA stars are spending this day with their better half. However, Warriors guard Chris Paul and his wife Jada do not have anything special planned to celebrate their love. In an interview with Andscape, Jada Paul revealed how the superstar couple has always spent February 14 throughout their 12-year-long marriage.
Chris and Jada have known each other since they were teenagers. And they tied the knot in September 2011. Despite knowing each other for over two decades, Jada revealed that the couple has never celebrated Valentine’s Day. “To me, Valentine’s Day is a cliché.” Jada told Andscape. Another major reason for the couple not celebrating on February 14 is because Jada’s birthday falls only two days after Valentine’s Day. “I never care about Valentine’s Day because my birthday is the one day of the year that’s all about me.” Jada is usually more excited about February 16 because she gets to celebrate her special day with her husband.
Despite not doing anything big on Valentine’s Day, Jada believes couples should prioritize doing something meaningful for each other to express their love. “it’s nice to make a little extra effort to show people how you care, how much you care and do things that are thoughtful as opposed to getting caught up in the chocolates and roses.” Jada added. After years of living together, Jada and Chris started living 380+ miles away from each other since last summer. CP3 moved to San Francisco after he got traded to the Warriors, whereas Jada continues to live in Los Angeles with their children. The distance between them has rekindled their love and it’s like they are back to their dating phase. “We have just enough time to miss each other.” Jada said.

Chris Paul might get even less time to spend with his family
Another reason Chris and Jada have never spent Valentine’s Day is because the NBA usually has games scheduled on this day. Even tonight, the Warriors are set to face CP3’s old team, the Los Angeles Clippers. However, Chris will not suit up for tonight’s game due to his fractured hand. Paul injured his hand at the beginning of January during a game against the Pistons. Tonight’s Clippers clash will be his 17th straight game out of action.
Fortunately for the Warriors fans, CP3 is nearing full recovery and is expected to return to the lineup after the All-Star break. That means Paul will get even less time to spend with his family since he will be playing more often. Luckily, Chris can utilize the All-Star break to celebrate Jada’s birthday before he gets busy playing basketball again.
