The United States men’s basketball team mounted a furious win over Serbia in a nail-biting match. In the crucial last three minutes of the game, everything was at stake for the US, who managed to bring the score to a 4-point lead, 95-91. And to surprise you, it was the last 6 seconds where two points were nailed perfectly! And as the country won against all odds, everyone came flooding in praises, including legends like Magic Johnson, Patrick Mahomes, Andre Iguodala, Draymond Green, and others. The victory led by LeBron James and Steph Curry was definitely one of the greatest performances in Olympic history.
Earvin Johnson took to X praising USA’s electrifying performance, with a special shout out to Steph Curry. “Team USA lives on to fight for gold after a tough battle against Serbia! Steph Curry carried US to a victory scoring 9 threes on his way to 36 points!” followed by a clap emoji.

LeBron James leading Team USA to victory—Is he the greatest of all time?
Have an interesting take?
And Curry’s Warriors teammate, Draymond Green, who’s been constantly vocal throughout, had empowering words for the entire roster. “Beat France in France”, he wrote.

What Curry and LeBron James managed to do today in the game, was enthralling. People were gasping, praying, jumping in excitement and were in awe of every single basket that was going through the rim tonight.
And the reactions from all these legends are evident that Curry stole the show today. Even as James dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, Stephen Curry who was quiet, spoke through his hooping skills. 36 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 threes isn’t an easy feat. He was just one triple shy from tying the record for the most three in a single game of the Olympics (10, by Carmelo Anthony). Not only that, but his 36-point performance is the second most by a USA men’s player in history.
He and LeBron carried the team to victory in the clutch moments. Steph’s triple that put Team USA up by one, followed by James’ coast-to-coast finish and another bucket from Curry really set the tone to end the game. Nevertheless, as they move on to the gold medal game, they have a much tougher opponent to face. Yes, France seemed quite decent in the start, finishing second in the Group stage. However, their previous matchups have really given them confidence and it should be of concern to the Americans.
What can LeBron James and Team USA expect from France?
Well, the Finals matchup is going to be as electric as the Semi-Final was. As seen in the France versus Germany game, the French crowd really is tough to play against. However, what’s interesting is France’s sudden rise in the elimination round. While Team USA had a tough time getting past the Serbians, the French also had to face the Canadians. France got the best out of two of the top five teams of the tournament and they are extremely confident heading into the Finals. Now, LeBron James and company know how to close games.
But handling guys like Cordinier and Batum from the outside might be a problem. The French have a well-settled offense and if they manage to make a strong start, the Finals will be just as competitive for the Americans. However, as the French have a Wembanyama, Team USA has a Chef. Now that we’ve seen what Steph is truly capable of in the Olympics, it will be much more interesting to watch him in the Finals.
