Kevin Durant's fashion fail—Is it time for a new stylist before the Paris Olympics?

The most important job for Team USA in Paris before the ball tips off on the 28th is to look tidy while walking in the opening ceremony and we can say they’ll probably pass it with flying colors. While the color might be blue for them, it will be white for LeBron James. After all, he will be the flag bearer for Team USA during the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. But when it comes to fashion, probably not all of them are as versed as LeBron. That certainly was the case for Kevin Durant.

After sharpening their skills for the grand occasion on the court, the focus shifted toward style. With our heroes stylin’ and profilin’ for the walk along the Seine River, KD found himself in a lurch ahead of the grand opening. For Mr. Easy Money Sniper, it seems not everything is easy after all.

In a recently uploaded video on X, USA Basketball provided a sneak peek of Team USA’s fashion statement. Everyone donned Ralph Lauren Polo blazers, but Kevin Durant found himself in need of some help. In the footage, KD is seen with his shoes untied. Even Derrick White was having a hard time getting his tie sorted. When asked whether he could tie a tie, White’s answer was in the affirmative. The Cs guard gave a shout-out to Jayson Tatum and said, “I do, I watched JT’s tutorial.”

This is the first time an opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium. Instead, athletes will be on team-designated boats that will sail across the Seine River, passing by the Louvre and Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. Hopefully, Durant and White are up for a cruise.

Team USA will not take the court till July 28. Their first game will be against Serbia in Lille and Durant is fighting against time to get fit before that.

Have an interesting take?

Calf soreness has been bothering Kevin Durant since July and, as of now, there’s no surety if he’ll be ready for game 1. He practiced with the team on Thursday and Friday, but the risk would be too high starting a less than 100% Kevin Durant. “I’ll see how I feel after I do certain exercises. My thing is to keep running see what happens,” KD said on Thursday.

Team USA came to France with high morale and form after beating all their competitors in the exhibition games. Serbia was one of the 5 teams the USA beat during the UAE training camp, but Durant was absent in that game. KD has missed all the games so far and has zero minutes in his tank, which is a big concern. Steve Kerr has already sent out words of caution and set a challenge for the team and without KD, it would be a challenge indeed.

This is Durant’s fourth Olympics with all three previous ones ending with a gold medal around his neck. Will this be the fourth for the Slim Reaper or a disaster akin to his fashion? We’ll find out soon enough.
