Kevin Durant and Team USA have commenced their journey for gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Unlike Team USAB who are in a long-run tournament for their top prize, Simone Biles has already made her contribution to that standing by winning a gold medal.  Kevin Durant came to France on the back of uncertainty with his calf troubles since July. The 3-time gold medalist was perilously close to being chopped off the squad due to the injury, but Steve Kerr stuck by him, and they saw the hazardous situation through.

Taking a lesson from that, KD noticed a special aspect of Biles’ movement and unlocked a secret to longevity. “It is crazy I am in the conversation of the greatest of all time. I just think I’m still Simone Biles from Spring, Texas, who loves to flip,” Biles said just before going into the hunt for another gold medal. And when all was said and done, Biles came out with a beaming smile with a gold medal around her neck.

Kevin Durant was present to witness the greatness of Simone Biles. The Slim Reaper took the front-row seats to encourage his fellow athlete. But before that, he made a revelation that would improve his current 6’10” stature. “That was nice. It’s the first time I’m seeing her live. I wish I had that kind of muscle in my calves. I’m going to have to get in the gym for that,” KD said when asked about Simone Biles’ performance for the medal. Biles went on to secure her second gold medal in this year’s edition, taking her Olympic Gold tally to 6.

Kevin Durant had a busy day as he went to support the USA in women’s 3×3 basketball before joining his teammates to support Biles. Steph Curry, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Tyrese Haliburton were also in attendance alongside KD. At 27, this is probably going to be Simone Biles’ last dance on the Olympics stage. So it’s only natural that KD would want to have a look at greatness from the front row.

Kevin Durant was eager to witness Simone Biles’ greatness live

The 2024 Paris Olympics is going to be the final grand event for multiple athletes like Simone Biles and WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi. That can be said about Kevin Durant who is participating in his fourth Olympics at the age of 35. So, this would’ve been KD’s last chance to watch Biles live and the Suns forward did not pass the opportunity. Even before coming to Paris, KD made it a target to watch the gymnast live in action which he declared in a recent interview.

“I’ve got to go see that. I was talking to a gymnast the other day, and I didn’t know their peak is from like 15 to like 18 or 19 or something like that,” Durant said. “So, for her to be at that age and still elite, of course, yeah, I want to go check her out. I’ve always been a fan of what she was doing. Introduced me to that sport, really…Simone is somebody who set the tone for what a champion, an Olympian, a winner in life should be.”  It was a successful outing for both KD and Simone Biles as the former ended up on the podium along with teammate Suni Lee who won bronze.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant and his teammates have taken a step forward to winning a gold medal as Team USA qualified for the quarterfinals of men’s basketball. After his smashing return to action against Serbia, KD continued being at his Olympic best against South Sudan. All Team USA has between them and a gold medal is 4 more opponents and taking inspiration from Biles, gold will be the only thing in mind for KD and Co.
