NBA stars all have their unique rituals to get hyped before a game. Some routines, such as LeBron James’ iconic chalk toss or Steph’s awe-inspiring warm-up trick shot, have become infamous. However, New York Knicks star Josh Hart‘s unique pre-game habit has garnered a lot of attention recently. The 29-year-old revealed his habit of munching on Mike and Ike candies before the game.
According to The New York Post’s Stefan Bondy, Hart eats a big bag of candy and popcorn before every game. So, the 2016 NBA champion decided to make some money from all the free promotions he’s giving to Mike and Ike. On X, Hart wrote, “Hopefully one day I’ll get a deal with Mike and Ike and get my face on a box, lol.”

The Mike and Ike candies are owned by the company Just Born Inc., whose valuation is around $301 million. So, Hart might get what he wants from the company. This ritual is an ongoing habit for the 29-year-old, as he has been munching on these candies since his high school days. Hart also continued with this ritual in his college days at Villanova, and he hid the candy boxes from his head coach at the time.

“I’d dump a box of Mike and Ike in my parka,” said Hart. He further added, “Because if they ever saw me with it, they’d make me throw it out. So I had to sneak it in and hide it. I was like a little fat kid.” Now this passion for Mike and Ike is truly something special, and the way he has been performing in the playoffs, his wish might soon come true.
Josh Hart has been phenomenal in the playoffs so far
The Knicks are 2-0 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers as of now. In both games, Hart had a double-double, leading the series for New York with an average of 21.2 points and 14 rebounds. The guard’s phenomenal contributions on both ends of the floor are giving the Knicks the edge over the Sixers. This is a huge step up for Hart, as in the regular season he averaged only 9.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
