The Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef, as known to Hip-Hop enthusiasts, has also branched its way to the Team USA victory celebration after their recent exhibition game win. Well, it seems that the course of incidents might have started from Drake’s 2021 track ‘Race My Mind‘ from the ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album, which addressed Ayesha Curry, quoting, “Posted that pic you sent me. It wasn’t recent enough. How I’m supposed to wife it? You, not Ayesha enough.

However, Drake received a comeback from his rival Lamar with the latter’s May track ‘Meet the Grahams,’ quoting, “Ayy, LeBron, keep the family away. Hey, Curry, keep the family away. They lookin’ at you too if you standin’ by him, keep the family away.” With such scathing accusations, Lamar indirectly warned LeBron and Stephen Curry to stay away from 37-year-old Drake Graham. It looks like Bron took it seriously.

Apparently, the reason why Stephen Curry does not seem to be adhering to the warning is due to his frequent appearances with the Canadian singer on various occasions. The top three are mentioned below to assure you of the deep bond between Stephen Curry and Drake:

  • The first incident was how Ayesha was quite “appreciative” of the fact that Drake called out her in his song ‘Race My Mind’ from 2021, as per her revelation on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in March this year. She was happy since people held her in high regard, considering her a “great wife.”
  • The second incident dates back to July last year when Stephen Curry, along with his wife Ayesha, appeared on stage during Canadian musician’s ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ venue Barclays Center in Brooklyn on July 17 night. Revealing his bond like a brother with Curry, Drake delivered a shoutout using his wordplay as he sang, “I got my brother in the building tonight. They say we look alike.”
  • The third time when the Warriors star Curry let the world know his close relationship with Drake was in August last year. On 20 of the eighth month, Drake performed at Chase Center and dropped out his friend Stephen Curry’s name during the concert, singing, “I been Steph Curry with the shot, Been cookin’ with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot, boy.” Notably, the lyrics belong to his 2015 track ‘0 To 100’. Apparently, the lyrics compared Curry’s insane ball-handling skills with Drake’s word-juggling skills.

Apart from his love for Drake, Stephen Curry seems to be a close supporter since he expressed his discontent with Lamar’s song being played after Team USA Serbia’s victory in Abu Dhabi.

Does Stephen Curry have hostility toward Kendrick Lamar due to Drake?

Recently, after the exhibition game against Serbia, while the Dream Team was enjoying the ambiance of victory, the court DJ then played Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” track that seemingly made Curry uncomfortable. The Warriors star even confronted his uneasiness with LeBron, stating, “Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America.” However, Bron seemed to be enjoying it as he responded to the 36-year-old, “I love it.” Interestingly, it is the same song in which Lamar made a searing accusation about Drake, calling him a “paedophile.”

From the looks of it, it can be assumed why Curry was so upset with the song being played on the court, as it dissed his dear friend Drake. It was not just about the song; Curry does not seem to have any special liking for Kendrick Lamar, as per his Pregame Playlist that he revealed in February this year on IG. He did not have any Lamar songs. Rather, the Warriors star had ‘First Person Shooter’ and ‘Evil Ways’ by Drake.

Clearly, the on-court incident and the playlist priorities imply that Stephen Curry has a clear inclination for Drake. That might be the reason why he does not have an interest in his friend’s rival. What do you all think? Was Curry right to express his discontent publicly even when his friendship is personal stuff? Share your thoughts in the comments.
