“This is going to be a night that I will remember for the rest of my life, from the game, the celebration, these moments.” That was what Jayson Tatum had to say after leading from the frontlines and taking the Championship title home. And it seems he has lived up to every word he spoke while still heady with excitement. The championship hangover still lingers in the air for the Celtics star. While for his fellow star wing, Jaylen Brown, it’s time to hit the court with a bang again!
As per Brown’s recent comments to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area: “Last year is over, to be honest. We celebrated, we had a good time. It’s been an awesome summer. I’ve been having a great summer, by the way. But it’s over with it.” He did have a great summer as his presence at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas for the Celtics’ summer league game against the Lakers with his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, and Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese spoke for itself. “Now we got the target on our back. Everybody’s trying to come after us and I’m like, ‘come on.’ It’s back to work. And I’m looking forward to next season.” Brown continued.
This ‘getting back to work’ fuels the spark all the more owing to the recent benches that the Celtics favorites had to face which didn’t go well with the fans. The Olympics controversy featuring Kerr is now a well-established story. Derrick White’s entry caused Brown to get passed over as a potential Kawhi Leonard replacement. Coming off these summer heartbreaks, the duo are all geared up to face the season. But how far can we place our bets on them getting their fair share of heavy minutes on the hardwood?
Tatum and Brown return for a power-packed thrilling season!
The big wins in life never come easy but with a sensational duo backing the entire team up, History gets created. With 31 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists from Jayson Tatum backed with the much-needed 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists from Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics were way beyond the league of the Dallas Mavericks. Lodging 106-88 on the scoreboard, the Celtics bagged the 2024 NBA Finals, a record-setting 18th NBA title. Coincidentally, the victory marked the 16th anniversary of the day they had won their 17th championship in the same arena.
Tatum shared his frenetic excitement calling it ‘the biggest win’. Even though the MVP award was clinched by Brown, the bromance between the two was undeniably endearing for the Celtics’ coterie of fans. “You know, it could have gone to anybody. It could have gone to Jayson”, Brown pointed out. “Jayson, like I can’t talk enough about his selflessness. I can’t talk enough about his attitude. It’s just how he approached not just this series or the Finals but just the playoffs in general. And we did it together as a team, and that was the most important thing.”
Those who know Tatum can vouch for his strong comeback as he has proved time and again in the playoffs. “He has such an inner belief in himself,” Jayson’s former coach at Duke, Scheyer says. “You can’t teach that.” Even though the Celtics star seems to be in his hangover zone, with just the right push from Brown, the two have all the potential to put up a formidable force for the rival teams who will have a hard time breaching their defense and outmaneuvering their pick-and-rolls. And what with the recent controversies the two found themselves tangled in earlier this season, they will have even greater firepower to prove their mettle with the minutes in hand.
To make a strong comeback with greater momentum, Jayson has even made an innovative tweak to his training schedule. The underwater workout photos shared by him on his Instagram handle make a bold statement and show that the clouds of hangover might just be dissipating!

The absence of the Boston center Kristaps Porzingis following tendon surgery might be an itch for the team but with two-star performers upbeat about their hardwood action, the Celtics don’t have a lot to be concerned about. It would be worth watching if the duo can make History repeat itself which would serve as the perfect redemption for their summer heartbreaks!
