Anthony Edwards turned the tables around for the Minnesota Timberwolves in four seasons. The 22-year-old is all set to enter his third postseason in a row. However, this time around, he isn’t just another guard anymore. Ant-Man raised his stakes this season with his athleticism and explosive games, averaging 26 points with 8 assists per game. This striking growth comes with a price, tactical defense play customized to stop him. However, an NBA pundit doubled it down with a Caitlin Clark comparison.

In the latest episode of Dane Moore NBA Podcast, Moore dissected the threats that Edwards could face in the upcoming playoff. As Moore listed down the strategies that the defending team could use to stop Ant-Man because of his astounding growth, he mentioned the usage of double defense set on him. Immediately, Kyle Theige pounced on him and dropped the struggles that Clark faced. Theige said, “The way he (Ant-Man) gets doubled right now isn’t like the Caitlyn Clark.”

NCAA sensation Caitlin Clark has been a menace to the perimeter. The 22-year-old has a healthy habit of draining buckets regularly with her impressive shooting prowess, 45% FG, and 37.8 3P%. The defenders can’t afford to give a split-second breathing space to the rising superstar, considering she has the ability to hit the bucket even from the logo.

Speaking of guarding Clark, ESPN’s Meghan McKeown said, “You guard her when she gets off the bus in the parking lot. You start there.” Despite the double defense set on her, the star managed to come on top, except for the disappointing final loss.

On the other hand, Anthony Edwards may have a similar threat, or maybe even more. Moore added, There might be a bad or a couple of bad Ant games over the course of a playoff series because of the attention he gets.” The pundits predict that Edwards could have a tough outing because of the overwhelming defense strategies set against him and the expectations set around him.

The Timberwolves’ rising superstar has always radiated a tough mentality through his games and interviews. Apart from the mental battles that he has to undergo, Edwards has all the equipment in his arsenal to get the first ring for his franchise.

Karl-Anthony Towns, who has been out of the fold for over a month, recovering from his knee surgery, will return for the playoff. Towns has averaged 22 points this season in 60 games. The 7-foot tall baller’s addition will also further strengthen the defense alongside the towering Rudy Gobert. Last night, speaking of Towns, Ant-Man threatened the NBA world about the arrival of his trusted forward for the playoffs.
