Tyrese Maxey had everything under control. He not only shouldered the team for a win without Joel Embiid, but sorted out the referees as well. During a bizarre altercation, the Sixers’ 7-foot Mo Bamba came in the firing line and one of the referees was behind him. Before things could get ugly, and the refs could chuck him out of the game, Maxey came in as a savior.

When the ref was about to blow the whistle on Bamba, Maxey came into the scene to have a passionate argument and cooled things down.

While Mamba was already facing the heat from the fans for a poor outing on the court, the man in charge, Maxey, stepped in to protect to his teammate. During an attempt to block Jazz’s John Collins’ shot, Mamba had a strange contact with the Jazz’s center, igniting a spicy verbal altercation.

When the refs barged into the separate the players, Mamba walked off without paying heed. Before even the ref could think of calling a technical foul for that, Maxey came in between sort the issue.

Moreover, this isn’t only blinder that the 23-year-old pulled off in the middle, but also some basketball prowess. Moments before the game, the Sixers management revealed that Joel Embiid would be out for the upcoming games, suffering from meniscus injury in the left knee. Right when the NBA world thought that the Sixers run this season in trouble, Maxey dropped his career high score of 51 points against an in-form team.

Maxey anchors a clinical win against the Jazz

Following a slump in the initial stage of the season, the Jazz has come up with a combination win to reach the 10th seed with 24-26 record. On the other hand, the Sixers have fallen into a slump after a strong start to the season. Currently, they are in the 5th seed with a 30-17 record.

In the absence of Embiid, it was Tobias Harris and Maxey who racked up the numbers for the Sixers starting line-up. The duo produced 79 points against their name. On the other hand, the Jazz put up a decent fight led by Lauri Markennan with 28 points and 10 rebounds. He was supported with 49 points from the bench. However, it wasn’t enough to contain Maxey’s brilliance and succumbed to a 124-127 loss at home.
