The Indiana Pacers find themselves in a bit of a pickle currently. Plagued by controversies and injuries as they start 2025, things only seem to be getting worse for Indiana. They face the Detroit Pistons next, a team that is in top form ahead of their stipulated clash. And heading into that game, Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton’s availability has come into question.
Tyrese Haliburton’s status ahead of the Pistons game has been marked as QUESTIONABLE. The reason cited in the report is a left groin strain. This comes as quite a blow to Indiana. Especially after the whole fiasco involving Bennedict Mathurin. So let’s see what the injury report reveals ahead of the Pistons game.

Starting off, RayJ Dennis and Enrique Freeman are questionable for the Pacers since they have G-League duties. The same goes for the 26-year-old shooting guard, Quenton Jackson. And as mentioned previously, star guard Tyrese Haliburton also remains questionable because of a groin strain. So does Aaron Nesmith as he nurses a left ankle sprain.
Injury Report for tomorrow's game at Detroit:

Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman are both OUT of the game against Detroit. On January 14, 2025, the Pacers confirmed that their center had torn his Achilles tendon. Jackson is set to miss the rest of the season owing to this injury and the ensuing rehab. James Wiseman also injured his Achilles tendon like Jackson, although his injury happened much earlier in the season. He underwent surgery to successfully repair his Achilles and is currently undergoing rehab. Even so, his 2024/25 season is all but over.
With injuries plaguing their squad right now, Indiana fans will be praying for players like Tyrese Haliburton to make a speedy recovery. While at the same time, they may be mentally lobbing curses at Bennedict Mathurin for his impulsive actions on Tuesday.

Benedict Mathurin’s suspension puts the Pacers in a tough spot after Tyrese Haliburton’s injury
On Tuesday, during the Pacers’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Mathurin was ejected after a heated physical confrontation with NBA official, Natalie Sago. In the dying minutes of the fourth quarter, while the Pacers were leading comfortably, Evan Mobley drove in for an easy layup. However, Mathurin intentionally fouled Mobley to deny the basket while he was still airborne. So understandably, Sago called a foul on Mathurin.
And while his frustration with the call is understandable, the actions that followed are anything but. He charged at the official, clapping his hands aggressively and receiving a technical for it. This only served to worsen his fervor as he ended up shoulder-bumping the official. And though the contact was minor, this kind of behavior was inexcusable and he was rightfully ejected for his actions.
