Will Damian Lillard soon see a change in his jersey? After being done with Portland Trail Blazers after repeated failures, he had his eyes set on the Miami Heat. Considering we are in the offseason and ways removed from free agency, the progress has been slow. This snail-paced progress may soon take flight, considering there can be a way to work around the Lillard situation.
In one revealing piece of info, NBA analyst Jake Weinbach dissected a way that could probably land Lillard to the Heat.
Will the Heat give up Tyler Herro for Damian Lillard?

If not for Herro?s injury in the last postseason, the Miami Heat’s chances against eventual champions Denver Nuggets must have looked different. In his absence, the Guard position wasn?t generating much, and they needed someone to pour in buckets alongside Jimmy Butler. However, there doesn?t seem a way to land Lillard without giving up Herro. In that regard, NBA writer Weinbach worked out a trade scenario.
According to him, if the Heat will acquire Damian Lillard, then they will have to send Tyler Herro to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz would have to send Talen Horton-Tucker and a host of picks to the Trail Blazers. The Blazers will acquire Duncan Robinson, last year’s Playoffs sensation Caleb Martin, and budding player Nikola Jovic. However, to lure Portland, it will take more than these players.
Potential three-team deal:
• Heat
Damian Lillard
Kelly Olynyk
2025 first-round pick (via MIN from UTA)• Blazers
Duncan Robinson
Caleb Martin
Nikola Jovic
Talen Horton-Tucker
2024, 2026, 2028, 2030 first-round picks + pick swaps via MIA• Jazz
Tyler Herro

This is where Jake pulls the picks out of the hat. If the Portland Trail Blazers are to get draft picks for 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030, then the scenario can look more enticing. It is noticeable that in this scenario, Portland doesn?t get Tyler Herro. This can be off-putting, but the incentive of picks can lure them into trading Lillard. The only question is if the Heat will sacrifice Herro, a 20+ points-a-game scorer, who is just 23??
This deal makes a lot of sense for the Jazz, they can easily soak in Tyle Herro?s four-year $120 million contract and his fit with Lauri Markkanen sounds amazing. However, it may not be enough to bring the Utah Jazz their first NBA title in history.?

Lillard?s contract will soon go north of $50 million dollar a year. The Heat can be in for a tricky period here because, by the end of the contract, the disgruntled Guard will be going past his mid-30s. The Heat has shown an intense desire to acquire him, but they have to think about the future too. What if they fall into a trap of heavy luxury bill which curbs their ability to sign someone else they want?
The Heat has made two finals in four seasons without heavily investing in superstars. But they want to cross the finish line. Lillard will help them, considering their woeful long-range shooting. But is he worth Herro?s price?
