NBA stars are some of the highest-paid athletes in the world. While some players like to live a lavish life, others choose to enter the business world. Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant is one of the smartest investors in the league, as he has amassed huge profits through his investments. The Phoenix Suns superstar has a minor stake in a National Women’s Soccer League club. Interestingly, he is not the only NBA superstar to do so.
KD’s former teammate, James Harden, is also an investor for a rival club. However, there is no competition between the two when it comes to wealth earned through their investments.

Back in 2021, reports around the world confirmed that Kevin Durant would be the next big name to enter the soccer world. The Suns superstar became a minority owner of the NJ/NY Gotham FC competing in the NWSL.
Interestingly, the home ground of the soccer club neighboured Durant’s former home turf when he played for the Brooklyn Nets. Durant’s business group, Thirty Five Ventures (35V) acquired a 5% stake in the company a couple of years ago, according to Goal. Not only KD, but WNBA legend Sue Bird is also an investor in the Brooklyn-based soccer club. Since then, the value of Gotham FC has increased by leaps and bounds. Currently, they are one of the most valuable teams in the league with a $48 million valuation.
Interestingly, the Houston Dash, James Harden’s investment, has a $50 million valuation. However, they generate $5 million in yearly revenue, while Durant’s investment generates $5.1 million. Gotham FC is ahead of the Houston Dash when it comes to on-court results as well. Gotham is third in the 2023 NWSL table while the Dash sits in 8th place.
