Ever since Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert got into a physical altercation earlier this season, the two haven’t had many good things to say about each other. With Gobert still in the playoffs competing for a title, Draymond has fired shots at the four-time DPOY multiple times, either on his podcast or during Inside the NBA. And tonight, he got another chance to do the same as Rudy was on the receiving end of Luka’s game-winning dagger against the Wolves. But it was not until Rudy’s teammate Jaden McDaniels’ reaction before Luka hit the shot went viral that Draymond used it as a weapon to attack the French Center.
With the game on the line and the Wolves up by two, Luka was initially being guarded by McDaniels. Then, a pick by Dereck Lively II caused Rudy Gobert to switch on Luka, which turned out to be a huge mistake. Realizing the mismatch, Luka put Rudy in a blender and hit the game-winner on him. But before the shot went in, it looked like McDaniels already knew what was coming because, in a viral image, his expression clearly showed that he realized the mistake beforehand. And Draymond shared that hilarious moment on his Instagram story saying, “Oh shiii… He Knew.” Followed by several laughing emojis.

Even Luka admitted after the game that he was surprised to see Gobert switch on him on that play. As it turns out, the Mavs were initially not looking to go for the win on that play. But when Luka saw the big man guarding him, he knew he could get a good shot over him. “I can’t move fast but I can move faster than him,” Luka said postgame on Inside the NBA. Meanwhile, Draymond couldn’t keep calm even during that interview and silenced the Wolves fans by saying, “Rudy sucks. Not me.”
Draymond sees Rudy Gobert in the Hall of Fame?
While Draymond has been highly critical of Rudy throughout these playoffs, he admitted that the big Frenchman has gotten better at defense over the years. Recently making an appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s The Big Podcast, Draymond claimed that this was the first year he actually believed Rudy should have won the DPOY award. “I think Rudy Gobert has gotten a lot better defensively now than what he was years ago. This year was the first time that I thought he actually deserved to win Defensive Player of the Year.”
However, he did downplay the other three times Rudy won saying that he only won because of collecting easy weak side blocks and averaging good numbers. Despite that, the Warriors star believes Rudy will eventually be a Hall of Famer because of one specific reason, “It will because when you look at the Hall of Fame, it is the basketball Hall of Fame, it’s not the NBA Hall of Fame.” Because getting into the Hall of Fame considers every basketball accolade, whether it is in the NBA or Internationally, Rudy has a solid chance of making the cut when it’s all said and done.

However, not fully believing in Rudy’s credibility, Draymond posed the question, “I think he will get in. But is he a Hall of Famer in what we would consider a Hall of Famer?” What do you think?
