Jalen Green is the Houston Rockets’ best propellant this season. He has shown maturity beyond his years. Even though he has internal competition, Green is superstar material. A team led by Jalen might provide the Rockets the one chance at a championship.
Green’s time in summer at LA with personal coach Adam Harrington and workout sessions with Kevin Durant has proved to be fruitful. The two-time NBA champion undoubtedly imprinted on the younger guard’s mind. His advice of making every drill and practice mimic game-like intensity stuck with him.
NBA veteran is convinced in the skills of Jalen Green

The Rockets’ assistant coach, John Lucas II strongly believes in the skill of Green. Talking to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Lucas says, “Next season [2024-25], he is going to take off like Ja Morant and Devin Booker.”

There is no doubt in the veteran’s mind of this. And why would there be? Each season shows him as an upgraded version of the last.
Green and Ja Morant are similar
To add credibility to Lucas’s opinion, the Rockets’ latest member, Brooks has a similar line of thinking. Dillon signed a lucrative 4-year $86 million contract with the team this season. The Locked On Podcast host Jackson Gatlin posted a tweet where Brooks says, “Jalen is like Ja Morant … can expand their games to be the best in the league.”

Asked Dillon Brooks how Memphis prepared him for this role in Houston:
“I feel like it’s exactly the same team from 3-4 years ago. Jalen is like Ja Morant. Jabari is like Jaren. Young guys that can expand their games to be the best in the league.”

Morant and Green both possess the same traits of being fast and agile. On the same note, Green still has a long way to go. Jalen’s defensive end needs work. There have been instances of bigger opponents bullying him, and Green getting lost in rotation sometimes. Though Lucas might spare him a bit on the defense, Udoka won’t.
