But as he is nearing the end of his tenure, fans and the media have criticized the way he is leaving the franchise. Earlier this week, Lillard officially asked to be traded from the Portland Trail Blazers. And things got more interesting when his agent, Aaron Goodwin, asked interested teams not to trade for him to increase his chances of joining the Miami Heat. Goodwin clarified his statement later on, saying that he’s doing everything possible to help Lillard end up in Miami.

The Blazers star’s trade request to the Miami Heat has presented challenges for his team, limiting potential trade options. His pairing with Jimmy Butler in the Heat’s line-up can really open defenses apart – but just one day after the Curry-Lillard team-up revelation, Lillard expressed discontent with certain reports about the trade discussions. After it caught his attention, he took to Twitter on Thursday night to share a cryptic message. Dame tweeted, “I’m amazed.”

In response to the tweet, one account tweeted and asked the reason for his reaction. Dame wrote in reply, “At how ppl could know so much and so little at the same time.”

On the 2023 NBA draft night, the Portland Trail Blazers picked Scoot Henderson as the 3rd overall pick. And after being asked what the fans can expect from the Henderson-Lillard duo, the rookie responded with optimism, claiming that he would make a strong partnership with Lillard.
