The Golden State Warriors may fancy another career-defining moment for Stephen Curry. Just like the one he had in 2012 and went on to ignite the Warriors dynasty. Winning 4/6 NBA Finals is all fairytale stuff. But now that Klay Thompson has departed, the critics have already written off the team, putting a full stop to the dynasty. However, the 36-year-old has a chance to run it back all over again. Firstly, all thanks to Ayesha Curry for making Steph believe that he could barge through his ankle troubles, that had recurred.

It all began in 2012, two years after Steph made his NBA debut. He always struggled with ankle injuries, right from rookie season. He had his first major setback in 2011-12, when he played only 26 games struggling with ankle injuries and underwent two surgeries.

It was indeed a ‘world is falling’ moment for the young point guard. Candidly narrating his thoughts back in a 2018 interview, Stephen Curry said, “I’m such an optimistic person. I always see the glass half full. But in that moment it really tested my mental strength to get through the dog days of a second summer of rehab, and not really know where the end was going to be.”

However, the 2012 setback was indeed the stepping stone for the greatest hoop payoff, which is known as the Bay Area dynasty today. Ayesha played an important role as the catalyst, helping the Splash Bro get over the mentally draining summer days and get back on track with just five words. Stephen Curry recollected on The Player Tribune, “You’re chasing greatness. You want to be great, but the one thing I couldn’t control was my health, in terms of my ankles. And she gave me that one line of like, ‘Don’t forget who you are.'”

“That kind of kept me focused on that mission. And 2 years later, or almost 3 years later, I’m back on the court, winning the championship. So that moment right there was kind of like the lowest of lows, and it was kind of only up from there,” Stephen Curry said. Boom, two years later, Stephen Curry lifted his first title and the rest is golden history.

Can Stephen Curry run it back one last time?

Currently, the superstar is at the ‘crossroads’ yet again. With only a few seasons left in his tank, Stephen Curry sustained an ankle injury yet again. Especially, in a season where Steve Kerr is looking to rebuild the franchise after Klay’s departure. During the Sunday night game against the LA Clippers, he rolled his left ankle twice in the second half and was immediately rushed to the locker room.
