Damian Lillard joining Giannis Antetokounmpo has turned the Milwaukee Bucks into one of the title favorites. But that does not automatically hand over the bragging rights to them or the Bucks fans. One of the most unassuming stars of the Golden State Warriors found himself in a tricky situation with his Milwaukee friends. His friends, who were part of the Dub Nation until now, have switched allegiances. And, have declared that the Bucks would trounce the Warriors this season.

Such disrespect is nothing new for the Dub nation. They have seen it all since Kevin Durant’s departure. And now they have a target to go after.

The Champ talk

The three-time champion with the Golden State Warriors, Kevon Looney, had an interesting time with his friends. What began as a banter ended up as a challenge that Looney gladly accepted. His friends rooting for Milwaukee Bucks is one thing, but challenging the Warriors is totally another. The rebounding ace retorted with a snide remark. In an interview, he said, “Warriors know what it really takes to win championships.” He further asserted that “they could beat anybody, and they are not going anywhere.”

The Golden State Warriors losing out to the Lakers gave flame to the ‘end of the dynasty’ banter. But how come the Bucks are any better? They got ousted too, and they have made a series of changes in terms of their coaching staff and the team. And winning does not happen on paper, Kevon Looney had to preach that to his friends.

Even on paper, if we compare the lineups, the Bucks have gained Lillard but have lost their defensive anchor in Jrue Holiday. Jrue was instrumental in the Bucks winning their 2021 championship. Whereas, the Dubs have lost out on Jordan Poole and Dante Divincenzo, solid pieces but very much replaceable. Then the battle will be between the bigs, Draymond and Looney would have to contain the Greek Freak. Which is easier said than done.

With the greatest shooting back court in the history of sport with him, Kevon Looney has no reason to back down from anyone. Stephen Curry,? Klay Thompson,? and Draymond Green going against Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Khris Middleton will be an epic battle. But, we would have to wait till January to witness the first encounter between the Warriors and the Bucks.

The Road to the Finals

The Warriors have tread the road to finals 6 times with their core intact. Barring injuries, they are a formidable team for any opponent. Kevon Looney, who has been a solid mainstay for the Dubs, knows that his team would be hungry to prove themselves once again this season. The Dubs, when they play with a chip on their shoulders, are very petty and vengeful.

Milwaukee does have a great team on paper, but their greatness will only be counted if it translates it into titles. Thus, Kevon Looney’s friends please watch out, because the Dubs are coming for you and for your Bucks.
