Even when Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is ranking #1 on Billboard Hot 100 Charts, many are already tired of hearing it constantly! How many times can you really listen to a song before you get bored, right? It’s the same thing Stephen Curry was going through when the diss track played after Team USA’s 105-79 exhibition win versus Serbia. “Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America!”
And even when LeBron James said, “I love it”, there were many who sided with Steph Curry. One of them was Kevin Durant’s brother.
Yes, joining the frenzy against the song is Durant’s elder brother. In a clip that quickly went viral across many social media platforms, Tony Durant took to the comments section of this Instagram post, outrightly stating his displeasure. “Exactly, this song is trash LMAO.” While Stephen Curry only complained about how the song kept getting repeated everywhere, Durant was clear that he had no love for it at all.

Fans who have been following Kendrick Lamar’s long-running feud with Drake know that ‘They Not Like Us’ was created especially as a diss track against the Canadian rapper. The song was released as their beef started escalating during the early stages of 2024. Back in April, almost a month before the song’s release, Durant highlighted Drake’s album cover for ‘Certified Lover Boy’ on his Instagram story to indicate who he supports among the two rappers. And in case anyone needed any extra context, he also added the “No Friends In The Industry” track in the story’s background. Given that both the NBA player and the rapper have shared a friendship for over a decade, it would make sense for the former to stand in support of the latter.
Interestingly, even with the mutual respect he holds towards Drake, Kevin Durant still ended up going to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out and Show’ concert. He wasn’t the only member of the NBA fraternity there, as LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, DeMar DeRozan, and James Harden also showed up. While LeBron and Westbrook were captured vibing to ‘They Not Like Us’ alongside the 16,000 other attendees, Kevin Durant’s reaction was not captured. So, while we know Tony Durant’s intentions with the song, we wonder what’s Kevin Durant’s take on the same.
Kendrick Lamar ‘asked’ Stephen Curry & LeBron James to keep their families away from Drake
The Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud certainly put both LeBron James and Stephen Curry in a tough situation. After all, both NBA stars are close friends with Drake, with the rapper hanging out and giving shoutouts to each of them occasionally. The Canadian even went out of his way once to mention Steph’s wife, Ayesha Curry, in his 2021 song ‘Race My Mind’, which contained the lyrics, “How I’m supposed to wife it?/You not Ayesha enough.”
Holding nothing against Bron and Curry, Kendrick Lamar clearly expressed his desire for them to stay away from Drake, possibly for their own benefit.
Continuing his barrage of diss tracks, the 37-year-old artist released a song titled ‘Meet the Grahams’ on May 3, exactly one day before ‘They Not Like Us.’ Reportedly written in the form of a letter, the verses mentioned several members of Drake’s family and close friends to highlight the unproven allegations that have been placed upon the rapper.
As the second verse came to an end, the track had Lamar stating “Hey LeBron, keep the family away. Curry, keep the family away. To anybody that embodies their love for their kids, keep their family away. They looking at you too, if you standing by him. Keep the family.”

About 2 months after its release, neither LeBron James nor Stephen Curry have spoken out on being mentioned. Either they didn’t want to pour any fuel into the fire, or they did not want to be associated with the feud in any manner. Despite their attempts to avoid it, the two rappers remain associated with the NBA duo. For Curry’s sake, we hope Lamar does not create a diss track in response to Curry’s wish to hear a different song.
