The NBA recently revealed its All-Star game reserves for both conferences. And well, like every year, there were names that were missing. But there was probably none more surprising than Trae Young, a stellar point guard for the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks facilitator leads the league in assists this season. Still, he didn’t receive the All-Star nod.

And at this point, the 26-year-old doesn’t believe he is being snubbed.

According to ESPN, Young is on course to make history that defines his brutal luck. Unless he does enter the All-Star conversation as a replacement, the Hawks guard would be the first player in NBA history to average 20 points and 10 assists in multiple seasons and not make it into the weekend.

It’s tough, especially when the skillful playmaker has been remarkable this season to deal with this fact. And Young’s reaction encapsulated his frustrations. “It’s no longer getting “snubbed” it’s getting “Traed” at this point. Sorry to my fans.. it’ll change eventually! All right, talk soon!” Trae Young wrote in his tweet.

From the East, point guards Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat and the Pistons’ Cade Cunningham received All-Star nods for the first time in their careers. Each of them had a strong case. However, fans couldn’t help but sympathize with Trae Young who has been denied the opportunity multiple times despite his stupendous output.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Trae Young the most underrated player in the NBA, or is the All-Star snub justified?

Have an interesting take?

And some fans have a suggestion for the Hawks ace to boost his chances.

NBA feels have some advice for Trae Young

Although the Hawks have a losing record, it’s hard to argue Trae Young’s fantastic campaign thus far. He’s averaging 22.7 points per game to go with his league-leading 11.4 assists. As a point guard, the 26-year-old is a complete package delivering for the Hawks on most nights. Still, the All-Star recognition continues to evade him. And the fans have a suspicion.

“Maybe you’ll stop getting Traed when you get Traeded somewhere else” a fan mentioned. There is a possibility that the Hawks being a small market franchise alleviates Young’s drastic impact on the court. However, there are several All-Stars this season that belong to such organizations.

But at this point, fans feel it’s best for the three-time All-Star to turn a new page. If he does enter the trade market, Young’s allure is bound to be infectious. Likewise, one fan commented, “It’ll change once you get traded to the Spurs”.

Teams such as the San Antonio Spurs come with championship pedigree. In addition, with Victor Wembanyama, Trae Young could form a dashing tandem. Considering the media attention the Spurs generate due to the French phenom alone, Young would naturally see a rise in his recognition.

It’s hard to beat such a platform. Unless it’s one of the teams with the biggest market in the NBA. Several of the Los Angeles fans jumped on the trend, asking Trae Young to finally join the Lakers. A hopeful fan wrote, “Come out west, the traegenda hasn’t spread to Inglewood!”.

Just for context, both Anthony Davis and LeBron James were elected into the All-Star game. However, it does come with it’s own set of challenges. Currently, the Western Conference is a far tougher place to survive in the East. So while the Hawks are the 9th seed being 5 games under .500, in the West, the same record would put them below the Spurs as the thirteenth seed.

Although, if the Purple and Gold are to land Trae Young, their seeding wouldn’t arguably dip below their current disposition. In fact, it could be argued that the floor general would dramatically improve the Lakers’ perimeter shooting while obviously making an impact in Redick’s high ball-movement offense.

Hence, the Laker Nation didn’t stop their recruitment. “Be a Laker and be in the spotlight big bro” one of them commented under Young’s emotional tweet. There were numerous rumors in the offseason linking the Lakers to the Hawks superstar. However, at this moment, it doesn’t seem the Purple and Gold are after a point guard.

Nonetheless, for Trae Young, it’s another disappointing reality to come to terms with. With his influence on the Hawks, his sorrow is understandable. At the same time, there might be a silver lining. The NBA community is well aware of how lethal Young is when chasing vengeance. What better opportunity to prove his worth?
