Kevin Durant takes the villain route on Saturday night. After suffering a disappointing loss against the LA Lakers, the Valley side returned to Footprint Center for the first home game, against the Dallas Mavericks. And the Slim Reaper doesn’t seem to have enjoyed the loss at LA, as he brought out his aggressive best to bring down the in-form Mavs. Notably, a particular ‘disrespectful’ celebration from KD gave away the superstar’s mood for the night.
In a tightly contested play against Luka Doncic, Durant pushed toward the free throw line and sunk a tough jumper over the Slovenian guard. Importantly, he didn’t leave it at that. The 2x Champ pulled out the ‘Too small’ celebration to disrespect Luka.
Notably, it wasn’t the usual hand gesture holding low to the floor, but a stinging one indeed. The superstar used his fingers instead to indicate that LukaMagic was too tiny for him. The disrespectful celebration didn’t go in vain, as Kevin Durant‘s 31-point effort fetched the Phoenix Suns a 114-102 win over the Mavs.

Moreover, KD held on to the celebration even after winning the game. Speaking at the post-game interview, he recreated the ‘Too Small’ celly once again after the interviewer’s request. Not so long ago, fans witnessed Kevin Durant on the other end of a disrespectful act. Facing the Wolves in the playoffs’ first round, the Suns got swept 0-4. Moreover, Anthony Edwards was all over KD, trash-talking and disrespecting.

It’s been five days since the NBA returned, and fans are already having a lot of high-class balling action. While 39-year-old LeBron James dropped 16 points in the last quarter, KD pulled off some tough jumpers along with some trash talk. A fan, speaking for the entire Durant fandom, said, “i love toxic kd.” Indeed, who wouldn’t want to see the villain version of Slim Reaper? In fact, he turned into one when he moved to the Golden State. Durant became one of the most hated players in the league after he joined the overpowered Dubs. But KD didn’t flinch but went along with the character. Fans might expect a similar run once more, maybe two back-to-back Finals MVPs as well.

Another fan got reminded of KD’s old beef with Evan Fournier during his Brooklyn Nets era. The fan rightly brought up the name as Durant had pulled out the same celebration on Fournier after sinking a jumper over him. This fan confidently said, “KD could throw up this sign against pretty much anyone other than Wemby.” With KD’s height, which almost looks 7 feet, the power forward can almost sink a jumper over anyone, but yeah, a French man with an eight-foot wingspan could prove a tough obstacle to overcome in regards to that challenge.
Another fan said, “Ant taught him some trash talk.” Maybe they must have followed this sport since last season. KD has stamped himself a reputation for his trash-talk, even Zion Williamson vouched for it once. On the other hand, a fan said, “That‘s good D by Luka tho,” giving a bit of credit to Doncic, who had been criticized for his poor defensive abilities. Nevertheless, it was a treat to watch KD pull off that celebration. Let us know your favorite KD celebration.
