Can the 76ers survive without Embiid and George, or is their season already in jeopardy?

The Philadelphia 76ers face off against the Toronto Raptors are set to clash as the NBA season gains momentum, with both teams aiming for their first win. The 76ers fell short against the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Raptors similarly faced a tough defeat against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, each team looks to bounce back and secure a victory.

The absence of Joel Embiid and Paul George was keenly felt as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard took control, leaving the Sixers struggling. Despite a strong effort, they fell 124-109. Tyrese Maxey led with 25 points, followed by Kelly Oubre Jr. with 21. Several others hit double digits, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the loss.

The Raptors couldn’t keep pace with the Cavaliers, who outscored them in every quarter. Chris Boucher led the team with 18 points, but it was a tough night for Scottie Barnes and the squad. Barnes, in particular, struggled, scoring only 9 points with a field goal rate of just 3 for 14.

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report

Sixers fans only have one question: when will they see Joel Embiid and Paul George back on the court? Well, there’s some positive news in that regard as they both are traveling to Toronto with the rest of the squad, according to reporter Keith Pompey. However, they will not be playing in the game as they are injured. Joel Emiid was ruled out for the week, two days before their opening match, meaning he won’t be playing against the Raptors due to his knee injury.

Paul George will miss the game due to a left knee bone bruise, but he is reportedly making good progress in his recovery, according to ESPN. Meanwhile, Caleb Martin played 37 minutes against the Bucks, recording 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. He is currently listed as day-to-day with a right calf contusion.

Toronto Raptors Injury Report

The Raptors are missing several players due to injuries, including RJ Barrett and Kelly Olynyk. Barrett is doubtful for Friday’s game due to a shoulder injury, and Olynyk won’t play due to a back injury. One major blow to the Raptors for the game could be the absence of Immanuel Quickley, who is deemed doubtful due to a pelvis injury. He played in the opening fixture and scored 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Bruce Brown did not practice on Tuesday and is out indefinitely due to a knee injury. Last on the list is Ja’Kobe Walter, who is out due to a shoulder injury but as per coach Darko Rajakovic, he’s a week to 10 days away from being cleared for full-contact portions of practice.

The Sixers will continue to be without Embiid and George, and while Maxey has stepped up, he can’t carry the team alone. The rest of the roster must contribute significantly to help secure a win. Similarly, the Raptors will be missing several key players, and if they hope to win on their home court, they need to improve upon their performance against the Cavaliers, particularly from Scottie Barnes.
