Can Rudy Gobert ever truly redeem himself against Draymond Green, or is it too late?

With the offseason coming to an end, players are looking to get back to training camp. However, some are still busy with their private workouts including Rudy Gobert. Now, each player has a different way of training in the summer. For Gobert, the Frenchman likes to train cardio through boxing. Boxing isn’t a bad choice to work the upper body for strength and endurance. But then again, Gobert is also looking to prepare a few moves the next time he faces a similar scenario, as he did with Draymond Green.

Green and Gobert got into a scuffle last season with Draymond quite literally choking Gobert in the middle of the game. Fast forward to the present day, it seems as if Gobert is looking to get back at Draymond as he works on his boxing skills. As much of a redemption as it will be, former NBA players believe that Rudy is late to the party. When discussing Gobert’s redemption to get back at Green, each guest of ‘Gil’s Arena’ show said, “Too late.”.

For the most part, it is quite late to be thinking of a redemption against Draymond. Back when the two got into a scuffle, it all started with Klay Thompson and McDaniels pushing each other. Gobert then intervened to separate the two, right when Draymond came in and held Rudy by his neck. Green and McDaniels were ejected from the game as Rudy went on to discuss the situation during the post-game interview. Nevertheless, Green never seemed to catch a break about Gobert.

The Warrior would continue the beef after calling out Gobert on Inside the NBA during the playoffs. Now, at this point, getting back at Green would be considered ‘too late’, but then again, the beef also doesn’t seem to end. In fact, during the Timberwolves and Nuggets series, Green had some serious words for Rudy Gobert and company.

Draymond Green underestimated Gobert and the Wolves

After winning Games 1 and 2, the Wolves were on track to make their first Conference Finals in 20 years. However, the Nuggets wouldn’t let them get away so easily. Denver went on to win three consecutive games, leading the series, 3-2. Draymond Green went on to expose Gobert’s mistakes saying, “Listen here, I got two things. Number one, the big Frenchman is sitting on that podium, speaking his native language, ‘We, we, we need to do this. You, you, you need to get a stop’. It ain’t we. It’s you my man that’s getting cooked. So it’s no we. Help can’t help you like, you just gotta get a stop… And they don’t believe they can win anymore.”.

Surely enough, the Wolves would go on to seal the next two games advancing to the Conference Finals. Gobert, on the other hand, had an amazing playoff run as well, averaging 12.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1 block per game. If anything the Frenchman responded to the criticism quite well. However, he should look to getting back at Draymond the same way he did during the postseason rather than practicing his punches. It will be interesting to see the two face each other again as the Warriors will take on the Wolves on a back-to-back on December 7th and December 9th.
