Karl-Anthony Towns will be leading his team Minnesota Timberwolves for a preseason game against the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden Arena on Saturday. However, there were rumors about the Knicks targeting KAT for a trade.
Amid the rumors and the upcoming game, the Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau had nothing but praise and admiration for the Wolves’ power forward. Tom is one of the best coaches that the Knicks have had, and he seems to have his eyes set on Karl in an attempt to restructure the Knicks. This doesn’t come as a surprise, as Tom has coached KAT during his stint as Head Coach with the Timberwolves.

Tom said about Karl, “Watching the progress he?s made throughout his career, he?s as gifted as they come.” In a move that proved to be a bad one, the Timberwolves took in Rudy Gobert. Due to a calf injury, Karl was only able to play 29 games last season; this limited his on-court chemistry with Rudy.

Despite the injury, Karl has pounced back stronger and Tom said, “When you look at an offensive player, particularly a big, the skill set that he has, I think we all saw, to win the 3-point contest and stuff like that, there?s nothing he can?t do offensively. He has continued to get better I think.” Just like fine wine, Karl only seems to get better at what he does. However, the ghost of the past still lingers on.

Both Karl-Anthony and Tom have had a bad experience with the Wolves, mostly stemming from a rocky relationship between former Wolves teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler. The two never jelled on court and there were constant jabs from both sides against each other. It got to the point where Jimmy wanted out from the Wolves and asked for a trade.
Despite everything, the two have since been separated and they seem to be doing better; Tom, on the other hand, has his eyes on Karl. But it looks like Karl isn’t planning on leaving the Wolves anytime soon.
