It looks like the Fanatics Fest 2024 is off to a spectacular start. And it was made even more special with a wholesome gang of jokesters. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Spike Lee, NFL legend Tom Brady, and a few others had the crowd in the room up on their feet and roaring with laughter. The particular instance that really got the fans was when Brunson poked fun at the 7x Super Bowl Champion.
An Eagles fan, the Knicks superstar, had quite a creative remark that solidified his popularity with the public. “The one thing me and New Yorkers don’t have in common is our favorite football team –– but the one thing we do have in common is we both beat him.” Brady, for his part, had an equally comical reply. “It’s been nice, I’ll see you guys later.”

Having played for the New England Patriots for the majority of his NFL career, Jalen’s lighthearted dig does have a fact. Both the Eagles and Giants defeated New England the last time they played. As for their head-to-head records, Philadelphia clearly takes the lead – 9-7. The Giants and Patriots, though, are tied with a 7-7 all-time record. But if you thought that was all the New Yorkers had in store for Brady, think again.
Jalen Brunson and Co. had a special for Boston legend, Tom Brady
The 5x Super Bowl MVP might have ended his football career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he will forever remain a Bostonian. The primary starter for the Boston NFL team for 18 seasons, Brady’s achievements (contributions) are otherworldly – 17 division titles, 13 AFC championship games, nine Super Bowl appearances, and six Super Bowl titles (the seventh was with the Buccaneers).
As such, when the New York faithful Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Spike Lee, among others, got their hands on the 3x NFL MVP, they didn’t let go of the Boston legend unharmed. Take, for instance, Knicks superfan, Lee’s blunt and hilarious projection for the ‘Big Apple’ in the 2024-24 season.

Have an interesting take?
“The Knicks have always mattered. I grew up with Clyde [Frazier], that’s my guy. Way back in the day. I think the time is now and f**k Boston,” he said to loud cheers from the crowd as Brady quietly laughed in the corner, no doubt feeling like the oddball amongst all the Knicks supporters.

But he didn’t have to worry for long as media mogul, Spike, saw something that made him blow out a sigh of relief. For reasons unknown, it looks like a very brave Celtics fan stuck out like a sore thumb in a sea of orange and blue. And Lee, being his dramatic self, made sure the Boston fan was given his due spotlight. “I see someone with a Celtics jersey,” Lee said, as though he were preparing everyone for a horror story.

Anyway, it’s all in good fun. The fans had an unbelievably good time as their favorite NBA players and entertainers gathered in one place. As for Tom Brady, there are rumors that he might, at least, become a part owner of the Boston Celtics. The Cs’ owner, Wyc Grousbeck, had made it public that he intended to sell the franchise.

In an appearance on CNBC’s Closing Bell, Grousbeck clarified that “estate planning and family planning” was the reason for putting the Celtics for sale. The franchise, valued at $5.12 billion, per Sportico, isn’t something the $300 million worth Tom Brady can afford on his own. Hence, if something of a sale does happen, it’s likely going to be a partnership.
Well, it would be quite a profitable venture, no doubt, for Brady. But he’s never going to live it down when in company with Boston’s arch-rival, New York and their loyal supporters.
