“Please never come back to Philly,” wrote a disappointed fan under Tobias Harris’ latest IG post. After a six-season-long stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, the team traded the power forward to the struggling Detroit Pistons. However, unfazed by the team’s recent records, Harris seemed to have come to terms with his career’s new chapter. However, on the other end, the Philly fans, who are known for hitting back at their stars, started a wildfire online. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old dropped a fitting reply to a fan, who accused him of stealing.
Following the Pistons Media Day schedule, Harris took to his IG and dropped a few snaps with the new threads. The post also carried a distinct caption that read, “New beginnings”¦ Familiar territory”¦ Detroit. The Get Back.” Instantly, the star had his comments section flooded with reactions. While some greeted the star on his fresh chapter, many Philly fans ganged up with trashy comments.
Particularly, a fan wrote, “Stole money for years from the sixers,” referring to the 5-year deal worth $180 million that Tobias Harris signed in 2019. Surprisingly, the star didn’t let the fan get away with the comment, as he sarcastically replied, “Send me ya Venmo, I’ll send it to you.”

This isn’t the first time when Tobias Harris came across Philly fans’ wrath. Throughout his stay at the Sixers, he constantly faced criticism for not performing up to the level that his contract illustrates. Importantly, the team had traded out Jimmy Butler before signing the 5-year deal. And, the after-effects really took a toll on fans, as Butler led the Miami Heat to two Finals, while the Sixers struggled to make it past the second round. Nevertheless, Harris seemed completely unfazed by the criticisms, as he took time to tackle them one by one.
Tobias Harris owned the Philly fans’ hate comments
It looks like Harris had prepared himself for the brazen attack coming his way before uploading the post. The 32-year-old responded to every possible hate comment with a tinge of sarcasm. For example, a fan wrote, “Please never come back to Philly.” and Harris hilariously responded, ” I forgot you own the city lol.” One may wonder the reason behind the hate for Harris from a few Sixers fans.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Philly fans unfairly target Tobias Harris, or did he really not earn his $180 million contract?
Have an interesting take?
Well, it’s quite simple. Harris struggled to live up to his expectations. For instance, in his first season, the star averaged 19.5 ppg with 6.8 RPGs. While fans expected to rise from there, it actually took a hit. In the previous season, he only managed to score 17.2 ppg, and 14.7 ppg in the season before it. In short, a complete letdown compared to the wonders that Butler did with the Heat.
Another fan wrote, “I hope you fail because you messed philly up so bad and sold us.” This time, let’s go into specifics of the hate. One of the sinful acts that Harris committed against the Philly fans is that he scored 0 points in Game 6 of the first round against the NY Knicks. Above all, he averaged only 9.0 ppg in that series. It was truly a disappointing sign for an option 3 player to tank on the biggest stage. In addition, a fan wrote, “U really let us down Tobi.” And, in response, Harris dropped a laughing emoji.

Moreover, another fan wrote, “Thank god you ain’t in Philly anymore,” probably wondering about his replacement, Paul George. But Harris still wasn’t affected by the damage, as he simply reacted to it with a hunger percent emoji. What do you make of Philly fans’ raging emotions? Let us know in the comments.
