According to reports, the Lakers are serious about getting Zach LaVine, an athlete who has been on their radar for a long time. However, like with every big transaction, the demise is in the information and the monetary consequences. And looking at LaVine’s current contract, it can be a financial burden on the Lakers. They would have to calculate the cap space cautiously if they actually want this $40.1 million salary and a total of $138 million over the following three-year deal to go through.

As the Lakers consider their alternatives, important players such as Russell, Hachimura, and Vincent might be considered as trade prospects. D’Angelo Russell has an implicit no-trade clause, but recent rumors indicate that he is prepared to drop it. So that puts him on the top of the list for the Lakers. Hachimura or Vincent could function as extras with equivalent salaries adding a level of complexity to the trade.

Although they are very curious about acquiring LaVine’s scoring talents, the Lakers face an obstacle due to squad restrictions and potential trade assets. And as the players they want to put up as trade assets have a waiting period till they become eligible, Lob City is helpless.
