Jalen Brunson is OUT with a scary injury and leaves the NY Knicks hanging! Taking on the in-form Lakers, the NY side forced the game into overtime. Thanks to JB and his teammates’ insanely brilliant defensive efforts. You might argue with me on this, the Knicks put themselves on the spot after blowing their 4th quarter lead. Anyway, stepping into the OT, it was Brunson vs the Lakers defenders. Mind you, the 6 ‘2 guard had the game in his hand until he had a nasty ankle injury, tripping off Austin Reaves’ questionable move.

With 1:27 seconds remaining on the clock, the Knicks trailed by 2 points. Of course, Brunson, with the ball in his hand, drove into the paint with Reaves and LeBron James chasing him tightly. As usual, JB managed to extract the call, this time off AR, but along with that, he rolled his ankle on his way to the buckets. The culprit was the Lakers‘ guard, leaving no space for the Villanova villain to land his foot.

Screaming in pain, Jalen Brunson, along with Reaves, spilled onto the floor. It was a scary sight indeed. For a moment, it felt like curtains for the guard, as JB stayed on the floor for a while, struggling to move his ankle. TNT broadcaster, calling the game, said, “Right on top of Reaves’ foot, Candace. Awkward roll, not the side roll, more toward the front of the foot.”

Candace Parker, on the other end, struggling to witness the replay said, “Hate to see it. Brunson gets up and limps to the bench, but forgive me, I have to look away. Ankle injuries! Goodness.” Anyway, what followed after that was a tough hero act!

Jalen Brunson showcases toughness but goes in vain

As soon as the refs blew the whistle, JJ Redick challenged the call. ‘Cause why not? The upcoming free throws would tie the game, and the Knicks could take the game away from the home team. In the meantime, Brunson managed to get himself back on his feet with the help of the medical staff.

The star guard managed to walk it off, hobbling on the court. Karl-Anthony Towns, who seemed determined to steal the win, walked alongside him to see if he was alright. Unfortunately, Brunson couldn’t help it and he had to check out. However, what proceeded after that was a courageous act.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Austin Reaves' move cross the line, or was it just an unfortunate accident for Brunson?

Have an interesting take?

Struggling to walk, Jalen Brunson stepped on the FT line after the officials stayed with the call. He sunk both FTs, tying the score, and exited the game. Miles McBride replaced him on the floor for the remaining one minute. Now, the Lakers had no problems on the defensive and effortlessly closed the game with a 109-113 record.

Moreover, Brunson’s courageous act took everyone back to the Kyrie Irving moment. The Mavs’ guard, despite tearing an ACL, managed to shoot two FTs before heading to the locker room. Anyway, there isn’t any update on the severity of JB’s injury. Hopefully, it’s just minor discomfort and he will make it to tomorrow’s game against the Clippers.
