It’s a Villanova brother’s world and we are just living in it. Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Donte DiVincenzo’s trade to the NY Knicks made way for a wholesome reunion with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. Now, there’s only one person who’s left out – Mikal Bridges, that too, because he is still a part of the Brooklyn Nets. While banters around luring players to each other’s teams constantly went around, recently JB ended Bridges’ misery with a trade plea.

In the latest interview with the Bleacher Report, Brunson took up a lot of tough questions and responded to them without any hesitation. However, the last question took him by surprise. Notably, it wasn’t from the host but his college teammate, Mikal Bridges. The Brooklyn Nets star wanted to ask JB why his name was “Dome-ian Lillard”. The star even mentioned to the host that Brunson would be trying hard not to roast back.

However, the Knicks couldn’t hold back and hit him back with, “He looks like E.T. … Mikal was built like a toothpick.” Moreover, even when the host moved on to wrap up the interview, Brunson came back again with a roast. This time, he ended his Bridges’ FOMO with a bull’s eye. JB added, “Mikal’s still on the Nets. That’s enough roasting.”

For someone who doesn’t know the usual banter between the Villanova stars, these players have been each other’s back to recruit their teammates into the respective sides. Currently, Jalen Brunson has two of his teammates with him, leaving Bridges to struggle alone in Brooklyn.

At the same time, Bridges hasn’t lost hope either. A few days ago, the star even attempted to recruit Josh Hart into his, only to get roasted. He commented on Hart’s IG post, asking him if he wanted to join the Nets. Hart shut him down, replying, “Are you ok? If they have you hostage, just blink and we’ll save you.”

Why was Jalen Brunson called “Dome-ian Lillard”?

While the name resembled Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard, it had nothing to do with him. The host, who read out Bridges’ question to Brunson, herself clarified the reasons behind it. The usage of “Dome” was used to take a dig at the Brunson’s head. Even though the humor involved body shaming, the Knicks guard took it on a lighter note and hit Bridges back with a similar joke.

Moreover, Brunson had called out the Nets’ star’s FOMO earlier in the past as well. During a regular season game between the Knicks and Nets, the Big Apple side took home a comfortable 105-93 win, spearheaded by Donte DiVincenzo’s 31 points. Following the win, Brunson rubbed it on Bridges’ face with a pop culture reference.

He compared Bridges’ situation to an iconic meme from the show, “SpongeBob SquarePants” He added, “It’s like that SpongeBob meme when Squidward is looking out the window and he sees SpongeBob and Patrick having fun.” It’s indeed a lighted-hearted war between the Villanova boys. However, if the Knicks trio will attempt to save their friend, they have to note that he has two more seasons left with the Nets with an average salary of $23 million per year.
