Timberwolves are finding their rhythm in the league. That sounds like great news for Minnesota. No need to revisit the team’s clueless start to the NBA season. But now, things are falling into place, although there might be inconsistency here and there. However, two standouts so far are Anthony Edwards and his teammate Julius Randle.
In the toughest of games, in wins and losses, Antman and Randle have shined even when others couldn’t. The team delivered when needed against Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs. And it wasn’t just Anthony Edwards or Julius Randle. This time, Donte DiVincenzo stepped up for the Wolves. That too, big time. Going in for a 112-110 win against San Antonio, Donte scored a solid 26 points. Meanwhile, ANT went in with 14, Rudy Gobert with 17, and Randle chipped in 16 points.
As you can guess, the game was grueling. It was a matter of going beyond the finishing line before the Spurs did. Thus after the win, Minnesota Timberwolves HC Chris Finch spoke to the media. He said: “You could see we’re a little tired out there. We just made enough plays, but yeah it was a good win. Not always gonna be pretty, so yeah.”

Compared to the San Antonio Spurs the TWolves seemed to be at a disadvantage at one point. Chris Paul and Co. had a 43.7 FG% whereas Anthony Edwards’s side had 43. Besides, the three-point % for Wolves was at 25 and the Spurs at 28. So, it’s not very difficult to understand that Chris Finch’s boys put up a tough fight.
Meanwhile, there’s someone the HC wants to keep his faith in. And yes, it’s not Gobert, Julius, or ANT. And it’s not even Donte DiVincenzo, because all of them have stepped up and played their parts perfectly for the Wolves against the Spurs. Instead, it’s the 37-year-old guard Mike Conley who’s showing sparks of brilliance now and then. But the team… wants more.

Mike Conley hasn’t been particularly outstanding this season. He’s averaged 8.1 ppg so far and to be honest, it’s not that impressive. The former NBA All-Star point guard has yet to shine for Anthony Edwards and Co. Moreover, the veteran has almost two decades of experience in the league. Therefore, when Chris Finch pushes him to score more, he delivers. But, that’s more on the inconsistent side. So, in the postgame presser, the reporters asked the HC: “What are the keys to getting Mike going given his role is kinda funky like that?”
Finch replied: “We need him to score in that first six minutes… We gotta get him on the ball a little bit more that time I think. There are times when we’re really good with Julius handling. There are times when we’re good with ANT handling. But when Mike is out there we need to defer to him a bit more.”
Anthony Edward’s coach also threw some light on how his players like Donte DiVincenzo and Julius Randle were performing on a nightly basis. He said: “He’s (DiVincenzo) stringing them together right now. You know it’s just making really quick decisions. He and Julius have really good chemistry. And, Julius is off the one kind of get some kick-started. And, you know he’s just given us everything we knew he was. With the rebounding and the defense and the shot-making and the smart play. “

Undoubtedly, both Randle and DiVincenzo have found their rhythm in the Wolves squad after being traded from the Knicks. They’ve caught up with the fierce force named Anthony Edwards and moving at par with the French star Rudy Gobert. Moreover, if Mike Conley can step up his game for Minnesota, it’d become the perfect blend for a team hoping to bounce back into the league.
