Anthony Edwards woke up the leader in him after the disappointing Game 3 loss. In a dramatic run in the playoffs, defeating the Denver Nuggets in Game 7, the Minnesota Timberwolves found themselves in a grave situation, going 0-3 down in the Conference Finals. While many have already started speaking about the Celtics vs Mavs matchup in the Finals series, the Wolves’ rising superstar still showed hope in his side.
Chris Hine, a reporter from the Chicago Tribune, described the mood in the Wolves’ den after the Game 3 loss. Hine stated that Ant-Man still seemed to be in his usual upbeat energy, hyping up his teammates inside the locker room. The 22-year-old reportedly also spoke about making a historic comeback from 0-3 down in the series. Hine further stated that Edwards promised his teammates that everything would be alright if they won a game with everyone striking together.
Anthony Edwards was remaining upbeat in the locker room afterwards. Telling teammates they were gonna go out and make history coming back, saying all they need is one game where everyone is clicking and they'll be OK.

Historically, no team in the league has ever won the Conference Finals after going 0-2 down the series. Unfortunately, the Wolves have gone beyond that and put themselves in a 0-3 down scenario. Winning the series with a 1-3 deficit is the biggest-ever comeback in the Conference Finals series. So far, there are three instances of a successful comeback from a 1-3 deficit in the Conference Finals history.
Nevertheless, anything can happen on the hardwood for a team with players like Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert. If not for LeBron James & Co., the NBA world wouldn’t have the first-ever successful comeback from a 1-3 deficit in the Finals in 2016.
While the rising superstar showed hope to the Minnesota fans, he has plenty of criticisms hovering over him following his recent slump. After averaging close to 30 points in the first two rounds, Ant-Man’s average in the Conference Finals dropped down to 22 points. Moreover, the star showed signs of cold feet after fumbling with bad turnovers in the clutch.
Amid AntMan’s confidence, the Mavs duo steal the show
Anthony Edwards asked for a win to turn back the clock for the Wolves. But on the other end, the Mavs are just one win away from locking their berth in the NBA Finals. As much as Anthony Edwards thrived tonight to get a win, it was all about the Mavs duo, Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving.
The duo put together 33 points each, taking the game completely away from the Wolves. They not only won the game for their side but also imprinted their names in the history books. They became the first-ever duo in 50 years to drop at least 30 points each in three games in the postseason.
The NBA world forgot the rising superstar for a while and flooded in with praise for the duo. Some section of the fans even called them the greatest duo in the history of the game. However, Uncle Drew doesn’t seem to be focused on the labels, as he makes an important statement about his ambition to win the chip. Kai said, “It doesn’t mean anything if we don’t win a ring together and I say that very responsibly too.”
