Just hours earlier, Stephen A Smith was passionately arguing on First Take that he could definitely make one shot against LeBron James. Smith, though, made it clear that he wasn’t stupid enough to make some grand claims against the all-time topscorer for nothing. The key here is the analyst had enough confidence in his skills and proved it as he was getting ready for ESPN’s NBA Countdown.

Veteran analyst Adrian Wojnarowski shared the video of the man in question draining shots with ex-GM of the Warriors, Bob Myers. The brilliance of it had many NBA fans in complete awe. So much so that one fan commented, “Almost tuned in because I thought it was Steph.”

That is just about the greatest compliment anyone could get, wouldn’t you say? Especially given how he received so much flak during the All-Star Celebrity Game. Going one-on-one with Cowboys superstar, Micah Parsons, the fall, having to get X-rays, and then the final nail in the coffin was Team Shannon’s 100-91 victory!

Then again, we suppose it shouldn’t be too surprising. The 56-year-old has spoken on quite a few occasions about his basketball prowess. Were it not for his broken kneecap during his first year at Winston-Salem State University, Stephen A Smith would probably be under contract with an NBA team.

At least a similar standing was what he alleged during a 2023 podcast appearance. His university education was thanks to the basketball scholarship he received while playing at the junior college level at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Apparently, the scholarship offer came after he knocked 17 consecutive 3-pointers in front of HoF head coach, Clarence “Big House” Gaines!

Well, the above performance does give him the benefit of the doubt. But fans aren’t done with the Curry comparisons by a mile.

“Steph Smith”– fans do not hesitate with the ultimate fusion, amid Stephen A Smith’s jaw-dropping showcase

It was almost like a domino effect when the first Steph Curry comment was posted on the above video. The fact that the greatest three-point shooter and our resident analyst-hooper have the same first names doesn’t help, either.

Take, for instance, an individual who commented, “Steph Smith,” followed by a few loudly crying emojis. He might probably be referring to the intense emotions that went through his mind while watching Stephen A Smith.

This next individual here seems quite appreciative and impressed, even. “Steph Smith indeed,” he commented, clearly showcasing his surprise at the older man’s skills. Considering how much his colleagues and the public in general have taken pleasure in downplaying his college accolades, the shock is understandable.

While many gave flowers to the outspoken media personality, we shouldn’t forget the Curry loyalists. And one such fan made his presence known. “Stephen A Curry> Steph Smith,” a Chicago sports enthusiast (no specific mention of any particular sport, so let’s assume every Chicago-associated sport is his thing) commented. Clearly, no display of talent looks to shake this guy’s staunch belief in Chef Curry’s superiority!

In the midst of all things Steph, if you forgot what (or who) this was originally for, here is an obliging Phoenix Suns fan page ready to remind us. “LeBron doesn’t stand a chance.” Well, if that was said to tickle the funny bones, then kudos. If not, there is going to be a barrage of King James fans knocking at the door of this fan page!

Anyway, Stephen A Smith did prove his point. He might not be a remarkable phenom who lost the chance to become a basketball legend, but he has enough gas in his tank to have a little fun on the court. Do you agree?
