Jaylen Brown kills the drama as he lets Anthony Edwards chirp around his ears. More than the teams, it’s the individual characters that drag fans to sit in front of their screens to watch the game. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is one such character. Apart from dominating both ends of the court, Ant-Man likes to do one more thing on the court, which is to rub his skills on his opponents’ faces’ with trash-talking. However, tonight, Brown, who faced the special treatment, slid it away casually and wasn’t affected by it.
Speaking to the media after defeating the Wolves and outscoring the others with 29 points, Brown had an important question thrown at him. One reporter asked if Edwards’ trash-talking affected him in any way. The reigning MVP didn’t just push away the question by simply saying, “No” but he went on to bat for the Atlanta native and welcomed his approach to basketball.
“It’s a part of the game, you know, it’s basketball at the end of the day. It’s nothing personal. Just come out playing ball and being competitive,” said Jaylen Brown. He further added, “He is one of the more competitive guys in his league, you know. He’s one of the young superstars, he play both sides of the ball and plays hard. You want to win. So, I got respect for it. Plus, we are from the same background. I get it, you know. I know what type of cloth he cut from, so, you know, to me is normal, I don’t see nothing of.” it.”

While Brown put it into words, KD acknowledged Anthony Edwards’ trash-talk with a smile
Anthony Edwards and trash-talking aren’t new to the fans. It’s not just Jaylen Brown who faced it. Even if it was Michael Jordan, Edwards wouldn’t have hesitated a bit to go after him. Because he went after his childhood idol in front of the whole world. It was the 2024 NBA Playoff first-round between the Phoenix Suns and Wolves.

Ant-Man and his men dominated the series completely, leaving no chance for the Valley side to get any momentum. At one point, Edwards was soaring high with his offensive display. And he dropped a three-pointer over Kevin Durant. The rising superstar simply didn’t head back to the defense but left an aggressive trash-talk aimed at the Slim Reaper.

The 2x NBA Champ had nothing else to say apart from smiling it away. It indeed became an iconic moment in the NBA history and Edwards’ career. Speaking about the moment in the latest Netflix docuseries, Starting 5, he said, “I’m like, ‘KD, come on, KD. You ain’t no defensive player… But he took the challenge in guarding me and I was happy… After the little back-and-forth after the first game. I think that was just like everything for me. Then, they call a timeout. He’s like, ‘Boy, you so nasty.’ I feel like I’m the greatest.”
