It has been 31 days since Stephen A. Smith read out a detailed text from Michael Jordan on First Take, which ended the debate about the Greatest Point Guard of All Time. While fans and analysts were arguing about who the NBA’s Greatest Point Guard was between Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and 4-time Champion Stephen Curry, the Chicago Bulls legend gave his opinion on the debate, picking Magic over Steph. MJ sent a lengthy text to the First Take host at 5:54 AM and asked him to read it on the air.

While Stephen A. had His Airness’ consent to read his text on air, that was not the case when the ESPN analyst did the same to an NFL legend. And now, a former NBA Champion blasted Stephen A. Smith for the unethical act.

Stephen A. Smith has reinvigorated his beef with NFL Legend Terrell Owens. The differences between the two started in 2019 when Owens made an outrageous comment about Stephen A. and his then-host Max Kellerman, “Max almost seems blacker than you Stephen A.” The veteran analyst did not like the remark and called the Hall of Famer out for the inappropriate comment. 4-years later, their beef resurfaced as Terell Owens retweeted the old video after Stephen A. revealed on The Joe Budden Podcast that he did not like working with his former Co-host Max Kellerman.

Stephen A. Smith went deeper into the controversy and revealed that the NFL legend once tried to sue him. Terrell Owens made an appearance on the All The Smoke Podcast hosted by Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes and shared his side of the story.

Owens revealed Stephen A. made their private conversation public without the Hall of Famer’s consent, “On air, he mentioned something about the text, which I didn’t give him consent to do.” Hearing this, Former NBA Champion Stephen Jackson blasted Stephen A., “If somebody texts you or any type of conversation we text you, do not share that on social media, none of that. Specially if the person don’t know.”

Did Stephen A. Smith Cross the line?

Terrell Owens claims he was not bothered by the text going public until an attorney reached out to him and told him that ESPN and Stephen A. cannot do that. Stephen A. openly denied the allegations, “I have never done that in my career. On the soul of everything I love, I don’t do that.” If what Owens is saying is true, then Stephen A. did something that is both illegal and unethical.
