Truly one of the games of the season, the Golden State Warriors gave Klay Thompson a fitting welcome, but it was Stephen Curry who had the last laugh. Curry went on a historic run in the fourth quarter, scoring 37 points to push his team to victory. We also saw a different side of Curry, showcasing his competitive edge and thrilling the fans. In one memorable moment, Klay hit a three-pointer and even pulled off the famous Curry shimmy, much to the delight of the crowd. It was all in good fun, of course.
Curry replied to the reporter’s question about how Klay did his move which he usually does after hitting a three-pointer. Curry responded, “He knows better than that.” Klay hit a three-point shot in the game and later hit the shimmy move while Curry nodded in competitive spirit, following the mimicking. You have to give it to him for pulling it out there! It takes guts to do in the Chase Center.
Earlier, Curry mentioned, “I won’t say I’ll be rooting for him, but I’ll be watching him. The other 4 games we play him, I’ll be ready to go at him,” showcasing his competitive edge. Klay ended a 13-year partnership with his Splash brother to take his talents to Dallas. Of course, they respect each other but the competitive side was on full display tonight.

Post-match, he detailed what the win meant by saying, “I knew you were going to say that. This is what the NBA is about. Like, competition. No matter what the sound bites were before the game, leading up to, we knew there’s gonna be a lot of emotions, but both teams wanted to win.”
The game was played in front of a raucous crowd, where they gave a touching intro video to Thompson’s Golden State Warriors career. The fans had captain hats in celebration of Klay. The shooting guard loved the reception and, safe to say, we haven’t seen something like this in the NBA; certainly, not of this magnitude.

He continued, “Felt like playoff-type atmosphere. Back and forth. Great players making great plays on both sides. So, that’s why we love the competition. We love being out there.”
He also mentioned another player who changed the game for the Warriors in the post-match presser. With all the focus on Klay and Steph, Draymond Green, a crucial part of the trio, showed why he remains one of the best defenders in the league.
The player had 3 steals and 2 blocks to showcase the defensive side of his game. He controlled the defense while also making plays with his incredible passing. Steph mentioned, “Don’t let anybody forget what Draymond did at this end of the floor. Playing the five against you know, their size. As many plays I made down there, he made the same amount on this end. So, it was massive for us.” Dallas certainly had size on the court and we could see the Warriors nitpicking their way to find lanes.

Moreover, Draymond forced the Mavericks to commit 17 turnovers by showcasing hustle players and intercepting the lanes. But this high-intensity action will remain in the memories for a long time. It was all about the Stephen Curry-Klay Thompson reunion!
