The Miami Heat were in their spirits today. Around the time of their game, the announcement of Jimmy Butler being traded came through. Later, the Vice City managed to win their game against the Philadelphia 76ers. However, the topic of the night was bound to be the Butler fiasco finally coming to an end. And that led to an awkward moment between a reporter and Coach Spo.
As a coach, he hadn’t initially informed his team of the trade thinking they were aware. The Heat players actually found out through a fan mid-game. However, there was an obvious sense of relief. Spoelstra credited the players for holding their composure during this two-month period. Naturally though as it passed, he didn’t want to continue speaking about the situation.
That didn’t stop a reporter from probing.

Although he did mention not asking about the trade, the reporter tried to understand the feelings in the locker room. To that, the Heat head coach found himself confused. “Sounds like you’re still asking me” Spoelstra aptly replied. Eventually, Spoelstra didn’t answer asking the reporter to “table this” in his press conference.

But it’s not a complex scenario to comprehend. The Heat organization went through an internal war with Jimmy Butler which had several drowsy moments. With an imminent climax finally transpiring, a sense of freedom must have cloaked across the locker room. Still, it must also have been difficult for a few players given the achievements Butler led the team to.
But in the context of the present, nobody wanted anything more than to find a conclusion to the saga. And with that finally here, the locker room feels rejuvenated.
