With his performance against the Phoenix Suns in the first-round series so far, Anthony Edwards is proving why many consider him the next face of the NBA. From winning the first two games at home comprehensively to humiliating the Suns in front of their fans, Edwards has elevated his game. While this has further solidified his comparisons to the game’s greatest names, even Charles Barkley jumped on that bandwagon tonight, after hearing Ant-Man’s inspiring yet jaw-dropping comments following Game 3.
After Ant-Man dropped 36 points in Phoenix, he gave a glimpse of his killer mentality during the post-game interview. “I just wanna kill everything in front of me, man. That’s the main thing pretty much,” he remarked. And his vicious statement reminded Barkley of two only NBA legends. Then, during tonight’s Inside The NBA show, he admitted, “It reminded me so much of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. They would kill you to win a game.”
Expressing his utter shock at the Suns going down 0-3 against the inexperienced and young Timberwolves squad, Sir Charles could not help but appreciate Ant-Man’s greatness. In an era where most players have a “buddy-buddy” relationship with their competitors, the Hall of Famer was happy to see Edwards ready to go through anything and everyone to get a win. Well, a similar mentality did wonders for MJ and Kobe, as their opponents feared getting on the court with them, giving them a huge mental advantage. And now that Edwards is making it look easy against elite players like Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, players will start fearing him as well.

Anthony Edwards is thirsty to win in the playoffs!
It has been twenty years since the Minnesota Timberwolves won a series in the postseason. And the last time they did it was under the leadership of Kevin Garnett when they made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. While Edwards cannot wait to follow in the Big Ticket’s footsteps, Ant-Man himself has notably been eliminated in the first round twice in the last two years. As he looked forward to Game 4, he said, “I’ve been sent home twice. I’m thirsty to get it.”
When Edwards was reminded that elimination games are usually the most difficult games to win because of the losing team’s pride, he displayed impressive confidence. “I’ve never been here, so I don’t know.” Maybe the lack of experience is working in Edwards’ favor because he has no idea what to expect, letting his natural talent take over. Safe to say it’s working so far.
Averaging 28 points, Edwards has been the best player in this series, despite sharing the court with his GOAT pick Kevin Durant. The Timberwolves hope Antman continues his dominance on Sunday and gets them their first playoff series win since 2004!
