Savannah's fears vs. Bronny's Paris escapade—How do you balance family worries with personal freedom?

Savannah James was only 18 years old when she had Bronny James, her first son. Two years later Bryce came along. From those moments, she can recall being content with her status as a mother. But now, at 19, her elder son is not only gearing up for an NBA journey but he was also seen with another woman in Paris. Where does that leave her as a mother? That fear consumed her. And she wasn’t alone.

During the recent episode of her podcast, Everybody’s Crazy, a distressed caller asked Savannah James and April McDaniel about finding their identity as mothers. James admitted to being comfortable as a mother when she had two boys. However, once young Zhuri came along, her perception of being a mother changed. It was less about being a caring and nurturing mom (which she still is) and more about inspiring her daughter to chase her ambitions.

“I had a daughter for my third child. And it put a lot of things into perspective for me and I just wanted to be her role model basically. And one thing that I kind of kept thinking about as my boys kept getting older was ‘Damn one day they going to get a woman and they going to leave me’. So let me try to find the things that make me happy and things that I enjoy doing and kind of lean into that more because they going to be out of here and I’m going to have to figure it out,” she told the caller.

The only way to do so was to lead by example. From the time Zhuri James came along, Savannah James broke out of her shell. She explored her vivid passions and became a business savant. Currently, she has her own clothing line, a skincare line, is a partner in her husband’s tequila brand Lobos, and also volunteers in LeBron James’ I Promise initiative. She balances all of these tasks while being a supportive mother to all her children.

It’s not a light task to handle. However, when she heard her daughter say she wanted to be like her, Savannah James’ motivation went overboard. And she isn’t just trying to empower her own blood, but rather all the women.

The two podcast partners aim to form a strong, united movement and help women around the globe realize their concealed potential. “Being a co-founder with April, I’m looking forward to being a part of it and immersing myself in it with all of our members, just because I know how important [maintaining meaningful relationships] is,” she said of the initiative.

What started as being a role model for her young daughter Zhuri has now turned into a mission for Savannah James as she looks to enlighten women around the world.
