Luka Doncic sets the hardwood on fire during the Friday night clash. The Dallas Mavericks star single-handedly took charge of the team’s offense. Notably, he surpassed his mentor Dirk Nowitzki to break the franchise record for most points scored in the first half. As he continued his hot pursuit in the second half, Dirk and Dubs star Draymond Green expressed their awe via social media.

Nowitzki took to his X handle, and wrote, “Luka,” with a flurry of fire emojis. This post came in moments after the Slovenian star broke the Dirk’s franchise record of 34 points in the first half with 41 points.

On the other hand, Green took up the job to rub salt on the Atlanta Hawks, who were facing the heat from Luka’s steam engine. DrayMagic gave them a walk down memory lane for trading Doncic on the day of the draft. He took to his X handle and wrote, Luka Unreal ! They traded Luka right?”

Along with that, Green had also suggested the 24-year-old to score 77 points, matching his jersey number. Unfortunately, the star couldn’t go past 73 points.

This isn’t the first time where Green was awestruck with his performance. The Golden State Warriors star even went on the record once and compared the Slovenian star to NBA superstar LeBron James. He put both the stars on a pedestal while speaking about his playmaking abilities.

He said, “I said there are two guys that currently do it [playmaking], they’re both 6’8”, they’re point guards, they’re once in a lifetime; Luka and Bron.”

Even in tonight’s game, Luka just didn’t rain down buckets but also had the stronghold of the Mavs’ offensive play, especially in the last few seconds. As the Hawks set a tight defense for the star, he held his nerve and made the right assists to keep the Mavs always in the lead. If he had selfishly thought about expanding his individual score, the Mavs could have lost the night.

Despite Luka’s offensive brilliance on one end, the Hawks repaid it with a collective effort on the other end, with the lead almost at reach.

Trae Young came out as the pick of the home side’s offense, as he dropped 30 points with 11 assists on the 148-143 loss tonight.
