Damian Lillard’s departure from the Portland Trail Blazers marks a significant turning point in his career. He now joins forces with Giannis Antetokounmpo in pursuit of an NBA championship. With a more capable supporting cast than he had in his previous years with the Trail Blazers, the seven-time All-Star is poised for a standout season with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Meanwhile, many rumors say that Portland was in a rush to trade Lillard as soon as the Miami trade held no water. In a recent podcast, the former Washington star talks about texts he received from the seven-time all-star.

Damian Lillard is Tired of being “Discredited”

Gilbert Arenas, a former guard for the Washington Wizards, discussed his recent text conversation with Damian Lillard on the “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” show on Fubo Sports. “We’ve had this conversation in the past and he texted me about an hour ago,” Arenas said. He further added “I asked him, ‘Are you happy?’ and he wrote, ‘I am. I think it will finally come to light that I’m one of those guys at the very top. They’ve discredited me for years without acknowledgment. I was never even close to even playing field with everybody else.”

Based on Lillard’s text message, it seems he’s entering this season with a determination to prove his critics wrong. Throughout his 11-year tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard maintained impressive statistics, averaging 25.2 points per game with a shooting percentage of 43.9%, including a 37.2% success rate from beyond the arc. He also contributed 6.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Additionally, he earned All-Star honors seven times, with one All-NBA First Team selection, four All-NBA Second Team nods, and three All-NBA Third Team recognitions. Despite these accomplishments, Lillard has yet to secure the elusive NBA championship, a gap he hopes to fill now that he’s with the Milwaukee Bucks.
